I have heard some stories about how attitudes change when chams go through "puberty". If Prometheus' attitude gets any worse, I am afraid he is gonna start biting himself! He is the most vicious little critter I have ever seen or heard of. I am even going to move his cage again to see if that makes any difference for him!
Their cages now sit so that I have to bend down to look in to see them. I can reach in and feed and clean without making much eye contact with them and it seems a bit more relaxing for them that way. Poppi is doing much better and is even starting to interact more when I do look at her or touch her. Great improvements there.
Prometheus is another story. He still darkens and drops down behind the branch as soon as anyone goes anywhere around his cage. Cleaning or feed time and he heads for the bushes. Reach anywhere near him and he goes black and hisses and pitches a fit. His last shed, he did not shed that one foot right again and I caught him to put the spray on him and had to loosen a bit of skin to make sure his circulation is not being compromised and he bit me about five times! I just held him covered in my hands until he settled down and then he allowed me to work on his foot. He wasn't happy even though his colors did go back to darker green instead of brown or black. He was glad to get back in his cage and just sat there glaring at me. He didn't pitch a fit like last time when he was so busy hissing and snapping that he forgot to run and hide. But, if his attitude continues to worsen, I sure hope he quits retaining shed and doesn't get any other health issues!
I'm just not sure what else to do with such a nasty little one. And I mean nasty! Good thing he is so cute and that I love him... I'm not asking him to love me like Twister did, I just wish he'd tolerate my existence!
