pascal's fairly happy at the moment
yesterday probably the worst thing imaginable happened.
my thermostat BROKE.
at first i thought it was the bulb, he is spoiled with bulbs and the one i am relying on at the moment is a 150watt deep heat bulb, this cost a bit more than i normally would spend on a bulb and i had to buy the bigger clamp for it to support the extra watts. so all in all, if that breaks = £30 down the drain. so i was all set to get incredibly angry while i changed the bulb to one of the 100watts, realised that wasnt working and figured it was probably the clamp. tried my spare clamp (i have so much spare stuff i should open a shop) and still no luck, and then realised the LEDs on my stat were out.
panic set in.
£30 is a bitch to have to replace, particularly when you didnt get paid as much as you hoped and are struggling a bit with money. but £65 that would need to be replaced immediately is a slightly larger problem.
so i angrily emailed the ebay dealer because somewhere on their site it says "5 year warranty" and then rang up microclimate like "MY THERMOSTAT BROKEN. PLEASE FIX." and very calmly this scottish bloke said "have you changed the fuse?"
and i was like ".....no....*fuse?*...."
quickly rang off and started frantically texting james because james is the mother of all fuse providers with his bosses big box of fuses.
he came round later in the day, changed the fuse and put the plug back together (i got curious and i have a screwdriver) and the wonderful thing works again.
ive left the 100watt bulb in there for a while because it hasnt gotten much colder and ive decided he can make do.
today i let him climb on my head as shown in a picture in a post,
he seemed to like it a lot more than being handled. he climbed up via strands of hair, once on top he just looked around enthusiastically for ages. james was watching to make sure he didnt do anything stupid but after a while he wasnt even bothered by me standing up and walking around.
it's funny because before i got him i was telling everyone how chameleons are supposed to climb on peoples head, and james thought i was lying until we proved him incorrect today.
he's currently asleep.
ive started throwing a sheet over his flex after bed time because if i dont, and im doing something interesting, he wont go to sleep, he'll just sit and watch. the other night maybe a half hour after his lights went out and i didnt put the sheet over him, i started sorting a new tub of crickets into seperate tubs of 10, and i was at the stage where i was putting fruit and lettuce into each tub, looked round, and pascal was Right There watching me intently.
so i told him off and put the sheet over him, heard some angry sounding rustling and obviously then he went to sleep.
in the morning when his lights turn on, i jump out of bed, remove the sheet (before it catches fire) and jump back into bed. usually ill notice that once pascal has woken up fully he will wonder up to his favourite spying perch and watch me sleep.
pretty unnerving.
he's getting quite a character, and definitely becoming the pet i hoped he would be.
anyhoo
im off to bed
