I don't understand

I really don't. People research sometimes on how to care for a pet prior to getting one. Sometimes that pet falls into your lap and you are completely unprepared. Either way you are now responsible for that creature. You accepted that responsibility the moment they crossed your threshold.

This is what I don't understand, Why don't you research the options for a vet Prior to needing one. Waiting until you need one is not the best time. You don't make the best decisions in stressful situations. The vet has never seen your pet until it is critical. The costs for these visits are extremely high and many times they don't bring them to a vet even when told by numerous people!

Before you buy your pet check out the Vets, bring your pet in for a wellness check. Your pet is now an established Patient. They know what your pet is like while healthy. If you need them they will always squeeze you in without ER fees added in. This is their patient!

Every once in a while when you weigh your little friend, phone it into the vet so they can update their records. Keep notes on any mishaps along with there outcomes. When you drop a fecal off, drop them off too! This is part of their history.

Have the fecals done twice a year even if they look good to you. You can tell a lot from a poo,
maybe something that will save your pets life.

I don't understand why people do not do this.
Your pet has become part of your family. You should treat them as such including medical care when needed with their OWN established Vet!

Very well said. And oh so true! Pays off to be prepared!

People living around here were surprised when I said I was taking my pair of chams to the vet. "Oh, what's wrong with them?" and they were shocked when I told them it was just time to go meet the vet.

Really glad I did too, cuz just like you said, when I needed them, the vet was right there for us. And, I would have had time to find another vet if I didn't think they knew what they were doing... Oh boy am I glad I found the great vet I did because we ended up spending alot of time at the doc's office.

Don't forget too, we live in the age of technology. Part of our vet care was done online. After Trooper Twister started having so many health issues, Dr. Lewer would e-mail me and ask for updates if I hadn't already given him one, especially during the worst issues.
