Gutload Recipe, October 2010

Every few months, I grind up a new batch of dry gutload. The recipe is different everytime, based on what I've got on hand.
  • 1/2 cup raw Sunflower Seeds (next time, I'll use fewer sunflower seeds)
  • 1/3 cup Kelp powder
  • 1/4 cup raw Almonds (next time, I think I'll use fewer almonds)
  • 1/4 cup Granola
  • 1/4 dried mixed Apples and Raspberries (dehydrated by me, no additives)
  • 1/4 cup dried Alfalfa (next time, I'll use more of this - i ran out this time)
  • 2 tablespoons Millet
  • 1 tablespoon Bee Pollen
  • 1 tablesoon brewers Yeast
  • 1 tablespoon toasted Sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Spirulina Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Hemp Seed
  • 1 teaspoon "Greens+" (this is a brand name health supplement powder)
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened dry Coconut
  • 1 large dead/dry garry-Oak leaf
  • 1 Brazil nut (next time I'll use a walnut, as the brazil was difficult to grind up)
  • 6 dried Corn kernals
  • 1 Peanut
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
Along with a dry gutload, I also of course offer fresh leafy greens, fruits etc. Right now, Im using a lot of deandelion leaves, yam and squash.

Yes, in total it was perhaps three cups. Doesnt last long at this quantity. So I make up new batches fairly regularily, and alter the ingredients each time based on whats around.

I dont usually include garlic powder. But it happened to be on the shelf this time and I figured "why not." Garlic is believed to have some good health benefits, and Im not aware of any negatives.
:)

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I printed it off for a guide, hope that is okay. You are SO knowledgeable and I really appreciate all of the info. Thank you, thank you :)

You're entirely welcome to take anything you like from this blog as a guide.
For my next batch of gutload, Im increasing alfalfa, spirulina, kelp, and the number garry-oak tree leaves. Decreasing seeds, nuts, and granola. No dried apples or raspberries next time (cuz I want all that's left for me!)

Okay I just used this recipie and its great. The Dubia and crickets love this stuff!
I didnt have dried raspberries or hemp seed, but I found dried apples at the organic market when I was getting the kelp powder. I used walnuts along with the almonds and skipped the brazil nut. I used a maple leaf as well as a few oak leaves. And I used double spirulina instead of the greens+ stuff. Otherwise I used what you listed exactly, even the garlic! Thanks again
