pretty eventless few weeks
pascal shed today, this is the second time he has shed with my. i panicked at first because he started on the eye that was previously infected, i noticed the night before that it was half open and looked irritated, so i caught him to have a closer look, but being his usual self, i didnt get that closer look i wanted, so i let him settle down for the night, and in the morning i noticed the skin around his eye was abit flakey looking, and his joints looked abit cracked and flecky. within the hour he was flaking away looking grumpy, every time he moved it snowed because it all came off at once. he didnt look impressed
i bought him new crickets yesterday, i had attempted gut loading the previous lot and it seems to be working, so i dumped some chameleon dust on them, and left a few apple slices in there.
he still doesnt have much of a feeding routine - i leave the tub open in the bottom for a few hours in the morning, usually he will come down and pluck them straight out of the tub, once i have put them away again he will have to hunt down whatever climbed out of the tub, and ill release some locusts in there as well.
i estimate he is getting about 15 a day, he likes the new ones right out of the shop, just because there are so many he doesnt even need to aim into the tub, just flick his tongue out and he is bound to get one...lazy thing. when im running low he will spend the full length of time that i leave the tub in there, perched on the edge waiting for one to come up.
you know when something is right in front of you, and you just dont see it?
this was mom, she came up to my room (a rare event, im pretty quiet up here) to get me to phone my sister, while i ring her she did the typical face up against the mesh "where is pascal" thing. pascal was curled up in his usual spot waiting for my to turn his lights out for his 7pm bed time. and mom spent about 20 minutes looking right at him but not seeing him, even with me trying to guide her eyes...silly. he didnt even do what he normally does, which is move away swiftly, at least then you see him easily. he just sat there and watched her.
he has some new plants coming. so far his "bed" area is near the bottom of one of his hanging plants, the one in the middle. so he is basically in the middle of the flex, and its only really sheltered from one side, the side facing the wadrobe, so he gets the light from my night light which stays on until 9ish. so i ordered more plants to put in front of his bed area, so less light will disturb his sleep. and itll mean more water during the day, because i still suspect he is not drinking enough. im getting him a little waterfall for christmas, which will help with the humididty if he chooses to be frightened of it, but hopefully he will drink from it, and hopefully it wont be too difficult to clean if i do it often enough...
online shops are amazing.
been stuck not doing much today, fell off a horse on saturday and im having problems walking, and just moving in general
so i spent a lot of today also looking at other chameleons. when pascal moves out of his 38 gallon flex, i want it not to go to waste, and i am thinking of getting another chameleon, it depends on how much money i have at the time, but either a carpet chameleon, or a couple of pygmy chameleons...
anyhoo
bye
