Hey @Matt Vanilla Gorilla, good to hear from you... I think owners in the UK have had luck with these, but they aren't easy to get here in the US. So, no colony for me. That said, I am looking for a new type of feeder to incorporate into my Chams' diet. Currently feeding them B. dubia, N. cinerea, Horn worms, Silk worms, Super worms, and an occasional Horn worm moth (whenever one hatches). Any suggestions?
What happened to the banana roaches? I got a small colony of madagascar stick insects from Nick Barta. Very easy to take care of and the chameleons are absolutely nuts over them!
I gave up on the Banana Roaches. They're too much trouble to harvest, relatively difficult to care for, and it takes a LOT of them to feed a Panther. Plus, I've never had any problems with my Chams accepting other types of roaches (i.e. B. dubia, N. cinerea, etc). Net, net... There are better feeder options out there for my needs.
On that note, I'm sorry about not being able to repay you for sharing your B. dubia and N. cinerea colonies with me. That said, I'm still committed to paying you back one way or another.
Not a problem, I understand! My stick insect colony should be strong enough to share by next year. If I were not feeding them off as often as I do it would have been amazing by now! I keep them in a regular screen cage and just keep puting blackberry branches in every day to second day. Once a week I pull the old, dry branches out and look them through for eggs and babies, pull these off and put them back in the cage. I also mist them down every time I mist the chameleons. That's it.
