Chameleon Info:
Note, if he's in the house he's simi free range, cage door open and he has a branch leading to his favorite spot, a plant hanging from the ceiling. Weather permitting he's outside everyday. Dripper out there.
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Panther Ambilobe RBBB
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Every day multible times. I bug him a lot, but he bugs me so we're even.
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Typical feeders and wild caught. He's not a big eater, some days multible crickets or mealworms. Sometimes a horned worm, those are offered a couple times a week, he loves Pill Bugs (Isopods) a huge fan of those. Some free range within the cage, he also has a cup on the side of his cage for feeders. There are days I don't see him eat or see any feeders gone, it doesn't bother me as he's acting/looking heathy. They can survive in the wild that way, so being captive shouldn't be different.
If he commits suicide because he stupid enough not to eat or drink he's probably deserving, because he's pretty damn spoiled. Next.....
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
It's done properly. What's recommended on the site.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Hand mist few times a day, plus I drip a couple times a day, MistKing on timer. Will continue all above.
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
Color is normal, no test yet.
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
24-24-48 dragon strand screen large
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
HO T5 Quad, 6% Arcadia UVB bulb and 3 full spec day bulbs.
Blue LEDs (build in into quad) come on at 5am (pre-wake). Then the first set of bulbs, 1 UVB, 1 day on at 6am. The basking light comes on at 7am off 5pm, the second set of 2 day bulbs on the quad come on at 8am. All lights off by 6pm. (Depending on time change, sun up/down) He's in my living room remember. I don't blast all the lights at once, I gradually increases and decrease. At times he sleeps outside the cage so it's up to him if he wants to head up for heat/food in the mornings. Like nature. I try to make it normal for him and me.
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Inside basking approximately, 85-90+ lower cage room temp mid 70's. He's outside daily if weather/temp permitting from 70's to 90's for hrs at a time. Lazer temp gun and wired thermometer.
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
40's to 80's misting by hand, driper and misting system. In cage gauges. Live at the beach so it's ok.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Regular plants and some exotics.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
His cage is in the living room corner, off to the side wall next to the front window he doesn't want to be anywhere else, otherwise he'll head there durning the day or he'll bug me till I let him over there. Stand is 3ft high and cage is a 4ft so he's higher than me at 6"4 so he's about 7ft.
Location - Where are you geographically located?
Left coast, on the beach. Calif
I've bread Vaileds, Flapnecks, Jacksons in the past. I haven't been back in this field for 20 yrs so I'm learning again. This is my first Panther, seems exactly the same as all the rest to me.
