    MistKing setup issue solved

Just thought I’d share what finally worked with Pistachio’s enclosure in case it helps someone else. I have heavy planting on both corners with one side full of pothos and the other side is basking and a lipstick plant which all prevented corner misting from working. It either would hit the...

I started gutloading the bsfl and this happened

We also have a beardie and a leopard gecko. I might go with this plan too. How many flies do you feed on a given day?

    New enclosure husbandry review

I’ve run into a dilemma with misting and would like some suggestions. I tried placing the MistKing on the front right but the lipstick plant blocks most of the mist and the plant it there to provide privacy for the basking area. So I tried moving it to the back right but then it is misting the...

    Female Veiled Diet

I’ve been looking around online and I can find protein and fat content but not calorie. I suppose I could do the math with protein at 4 kcal/g and fat at 9 kcal/g. I was just curious if someone had already done this work as I read to feed crickets or equivalent calories many places but no...

I have not. Do you have a good resource for this info?

    Female Veiled Diet

Yes I offer a treat worm now and then too. Thanks for your time and help. It’s good to pool all these resources together to help find best practice.

    Female Veiled Diet

Thank you. The guide in Chameleon Forums says adults eat 7-10 every other day. https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/ I cut down to 4 feeders (fed BSFL) as of today. I’ll stick with that and see how she does and will be sure to keep the basking temp closer to 80 than 85.

    Female Veiled Diet

Ok I figured out why I’m confused even looking at reputable sources in figuring out how to feed Pistachio. I am not breeding her if that helps with suggestions. She does have a lay bin 100% of the time. She is 3 years old. Had her enclosure checked out and all looks good aside from needing to...

    New enclosure husbandry review

I just realized I’m bringing this off topic for the thread. I’m going to move my additional feeding questions to the diet thread.

    New enclosure husbandry review

Thank you for the replies. I’m definitely feeding way too much, thanks for catching that. I’m not sure where I read how much to feed. I only recently learned where the more reliable sources are. I’ll edge the temps down a little, that’s easy enough to fix.

    New enclosure husbandry review

I’ll get more branches in there. I have quite a few in different sizes. Pistachio has never laid eggs. I can lower the basking temp but I’m curious why they would eat so little compared to a male when their body is working harder by making eggs? For misting, I was under the impression...

    New enclosure husbandry review

Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - veiled, female, 3 years old. I’ve had her for 3 weeks. Handling - several times a week if she’s in the mood for it. Feeding and supplements - 7-10 crickets or BSFL (soon to add silk worms to the mix) every other day gut loaded with carrots or other approved...

    Hissing while handling

This is exactly what it feels like, also her expressing she’s in charge makes sense. She hasn’t tried to bite me and generally doesn’t seem aggressive. She has licked me a few times but I believe that is normal.

    Hissing while handling

This helps, thank you. She only puffs when inside her enclosure and someone walks by that’s not me(she’s in my room). She only seems to flash when excited like when she’s about to eat.

    Hissing while handling

I’m curious why my veiled will sometimes hiss at me while readily walking onto my hand, without changing color and otherwise seemingly content? I never take her out of her enclosure, I just let her crawl out onto my hand/arm when she “wants.” There was one time she crawled out seemed fine and...

Never thought of the dimmer breaking. I could see the benefit of having backup bulbs just in case.

I use a Flukers dimmer fixture so I only need one wattage bulb but can adjust the temp easily depending on the day.
