Will give this a try, how will this effect humidity though? Have really struggled with humidity. Have a fogger now but still an ongoing battle despite the mistings.

No it's wood, there are ventilation holes in the back of the viv.

    Infected casque

Thanks guys, I have a completely wooden viv with glass sliding doors at the front. Maybe I could make a box for the top containing the lights? Will give this some thought.

    Infected casque

Yep, and the ceramic bulb although there is a guard around that. I have a wooden viv with glass sliding doors at the front, not sure how I could bring the bulbs outside. Do you think he burned his casque on the uvb, it gets a lot hotter than I thought it did. I might be able to improvise some...

    Infected casque

An update on Karma. He is tolerating the Baytril well, am keeping on top of the hydration. His casque is not oozing any more, I am just waiting to see how much of it he looses. :( Such a shame he had quite an impressive one. I am going to move his vines down as this must not happen again. I have...

    Infected casque

The dripper is dripping, the fogger is fogging and my hand is aching from giving him a good misting. Hubby and me are coming up with a plan to stop his casque from rubbing on the uvb bulb. He does that a lot, am sure that must be how he burned himself. Thanks again.

    Infected casque

Thanks for the advice. Will keep injecting those locusts! Could he of got the burn from his UVB bulb as I have a wire cover over the heat lamp. Just felt the uvb and it gets a lot hotter than I thought it did. Will have to come up with a plan to put a cover over this too I think. Feel so bad he...

Advice on injecting locusts with Baytril please!

Thanks for the advice. My second attempt was much more successful. Locust successfully injected and Karma ate the lot. Might get him some waxworms as a treat tomorrow though.

    Infected casque

Karma has got an infected casque:(. Have been to my local vets who prescribed 0.1ml of Baytril injected into a locust for 5 days. I have so far successfully fed him 2. I have attached two pictures. Feel guilty I didn't notice earlier but it just looked a bit dry at the top. I didn't realise...

Advice on injecting locusts with Baytril please!

Thanks for the advice, I just stuck it into it's back. Hopefully I won't be so clumsy next time and I will definately inject the underside and take the cap of the needle off before catching the locust. The needle has already been drawn up by the vet, one less thing to cock up I spose!

Advice on injecting locusts with Baytril please!

Karma has an infected casque and my vet has advised me to inject a locust with 0.1ml Baytril for five days. Mmmm easier said than done! First I managed to slice my finger on the needle, man they are sharp! Then as I hand fed Karma his dosed up locust he chomped on my finger, really hard I might...

Decent reptile vet in Worcestershire, UK

Well I have just taken Karma to my local vets. Although they don't specialise in reptiles they couldn't have been more helpful. They agree his casque is infected and have prescribed 0.1ml Baytril injected into his locusts daily for 5 days. Does this sound right to you knowledgeable ones?

    Mmm, interesting sleeping position!!!

I did move him to a safer position if I'm honest. Wouldn't have slept last night for worrying if I hadn't! He was very nice about it, he didn't hiss or try and bite me. He must have been half asleep still, lol.

    Are veild chameleons aggressive?

My male veiled Karma is otherwise known as Mr Grumpy. He headbutts, hisses and puffs up on a daily basis but I love him all the same. I respect that he does not wish to be handled and enjoy watching him going about his daily business in his vivarium. He is so cool and I love him :)

    Holiday

I am hoping to go away for 3 nights in a couple of weeks time. Last time I went away Karma was a baby in an easily transportable viv and my sister in law did a brilliant job of looking after him. Now he's in a bigger viv this will be impossible so how can I keep him hydrated whilst I'm away? Do...
