Do you mind sending a pic of the distiller you purchased on Amazon? I searched thoroughly on Amazon & found so many contradicting reviews! If yours works well & has an auto shut off, I'll take your advice ??
Awesome. Thank you for the advice! I'm thinking this will be the route I take for a while too. We already dropped 1.5k on all the supplies & the chameleon himself so I'll just get jugs right now and maybe get a RO system in the future.
Hey everyone! I'm ISO advice regarding water filtration for use in misting systems. Please read entire post before commenting so you know where my head is at in this process lol. Thank you!!
What water do you use in your misting system?
I know it has to be distilled, purified or undergo reverse...
Awesome. That makes life easier. I didn't know that the humidity could decrease during the day. I knew that the temp can drop at night but the humidity thing is new to me. That'll make life easier! Thanks so much.
YESS I love panthers. I have my last one 10 years ago and I've been wanting another since but I'm a military wife & have traveled too much. Now that we know we'll be in one state for a while, I'm getting another one. I'm going to pick him out tomorrow. I have an awesome plan for his enclosure...
I'm getting a male panther, so I know it has to be around 75%-90% humidity. I plan on having 3 live plants in there, so hopefully they will help retain some humidity. I have a screen enclosure (2x2x4) so I'll definitely need the plants and frequent misting to maintain the humidity. The back of...
Oh it's cool. The breeder & shop owner that I'm buying my cham from this weekend actually said that many people do this without a problem. He told me using water filtered via a Brita filter should be good enough too! So that's exciting. I'm going to get some distilled water first then eventually...
Interesting. I didn't realize that I'd be misting less when the lights are on. I know that water droplets getting on the light can cause it to shatter but I never had this problem in the past.. I just have the misters point away from the lights. Good to know though. Hopefully, with natural...
Oh that's good to know! So I probably don't need to invest in a distiller or RO system at this time. I read about peoppe using Brita filters.. I wonder if that's sufficient?
Oh wow! Good to know. I'll have to figure out the frequency & duration of misting that is required to keep my chams enclosure humid enough. Then I'll figure out whether a purification system is worth it after that.. Which will depend on how often I need to fill my misting resorvoir. Thank you!
An RO system that you install in your sink and fill the misting resorvoir with the water from that? Or is there an RO system that attaches directly to the mister? Forgive me if this is a silly question. This is my first time using anything other than tap water, which was obvs a huge mistake when...
How long is a long time? My misting system holds 10 liters. I'll be setting up the cage next week so I'll have to figure out how long it takes to go through the water. I think I'll just buy jugs of distilled water until I figure it out, then eventually invest in a good quality distiller.
Man, I've read so many mixed reviews on all of the distillers I've found on Amazon! I want one that's user friendly, auto shut off & actually does what it's supposed to do.
