Another thing to note, Jackson's are very susceptible to Temporal gland infections, especially if their environment is less than ideal.
I just got my Jackson's cleared up, but they also seem to be a repeat problem.
Just a heads up that if you see any swelling on the lips especially near...
Not to burst your bubble, but I bought my veiled when she was 2-3 months old. She was the friendliest cham in the world for two weeks and ever since she has been miserable.
I love her dearly, but she is very much just for show.
See how time treats your relationship, if you had come to me...
I had heard that Screameleons hadn't been there for years. :(
I saw the Sambava you're talking about, he was a bit interesting. Seemed a bit malnourished/dehydrated imho.
The Ambilobe I saw was from Island Reef & Reptiles and was the only decent looking chameleon I saw. The guy was showing...
...is this a joke?
No, don't smoke anything near any of your animals. There is not a single creature on the planet that benefits from smoke inhalation. Probably because it's been proven to be bad for pretty much every part of your body.
Big shocker.
Not commenting on the content of the thread, however, this has got to be single worst defense of any behavior ever.
"It's natural!!!" They cried as they fed a gecko, bred and born in captivity underneath lights manufactured in a far away country, in a cage made of man-made materials, in a...
Well this one seemed quite shy in the good department! At least for Chameleons; I could see how some geckos, frogs and snakes could be housed the way that they were and even that I thought was sub-par. I'm just surprised that this is considered common practice.
So, today my girlfriend and I attended the Upstate NY Reptile Expo in White Plains. This was our first visit to any reptile expo and it was all in all a good time, but it certainly reinforced a couple of concerns we had.
The care of the reptiles on display was deplorable. I very much...
As a dedicated orchid grower, I've never heard or known of any orchid to be toxic to anything.
...and that is where my limited knowledge ends. :p
Would really like to hear about the Diffenbachia though, they look like they'd make great terrarium plants.
OD-ing is something I hadn't considered...
In other great news he has shed from start to finish in under 24 hours. I've never seen such a fast shed in my life.
The growths are just dropping off, some of them peeling much like a scab.
I wasn't home to monitor today, but my girlfriend had him...
Okay, quick update.
First and foremost, three of the weird growths have fallen off with the Thermazene treatment. The growths aren't leaving any open wounds or sores behind, but his skin is a strange sort of yellow where they were. I am taking this as firmly good news.
However, in my care...
I will most definitely be keeping him, in fact, as long as he gets better and his health checks out, I might try breeding him.
Give that local pet store a reason not to buy WC's anymore. :)
It's something I've wanted to do since I saw/heard about the terrible condition and environmental...
Alright, so after a vet visit and a biopsy I have my unfortunately unsurprising answer.
What are those weird growths?
*shrug* Possible bacterial infection.
The vet was knowledgeable, punctual and helpful. He did a biopsy on one of the little legions and the results were less than...
It's unlikely the fall alone could have killed him.
However, the blood in the mouth would lead me to believe that perhaps he had ingested some of the substrate and his GI tract became blocked.
When was the last time you saw feces?
Forgot to mention it earlier, I've got an appt. with the vet mentioned above at 11.
Very excited to get a better idea of what's going on with this little guy!
Thanks so much to everyone, don't know what I'd do without the forums.
Will post an update post-visit tomorrow.
Still alive this morning and seemingly doing well. Signs of sufficient hydration and a significant activity level increase.
Last night I went out and got it a small Zoo Med terrarium that is size appropriate now, although it is glass and that's only because my LPS doesn't carry screen cages...
