Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
This guy seems totally normal except for the occasional arm/ leg holding. His bruise isn’t getting worse. He’s eating, he’s drinking, he’s pooping, and he’s mostly climbing. Everything I’ve read about toxicity he should be having GI problems. I can’t find...
Oh no, not even close. I have officially had him for 7 days, 1 week. The more I read the more I am ruling out any nutritional issues. The first time I noticed him fall was this past Friday, 4 days ago. I refer to this as the “first” fall. I do not know if he had fallen previously. I do not know...
I also can’t rule out that what I presume and am calling a neurological issue is “simply” him having injured himself in a fall and him protecting himself from further injury. Although, I don’t know the reason that he suddenly fell and the extent, if any, of his injuries. I assume it is...
That’s a great question and one I am not able to answer. I’m by no means an expert in mold or toxicity of any kind.
What I meant by being allergic to aspergillus, which is commonly found in food and would contribute to Aflaoxicosis, is that if aspergillus were present in my crickets enclosure/...
I started working in (mammalian) clinical veterinary medicine 15 years ago, primarily in emergency care. I’ve since moved into other roles outside of clinical practice (In other words corporate) but have remained in the veterinary medicine profession for 15 years.
I’m also very familiar with...
Thank you. I’m in palm beach. I wasn’t able to find any silk or horn worms live locally. I ordered some online that should be here in a few days.
I’ve been in veterinary medicine for 15 years and know a really good exotic vet about a half hour from me that also takes drop off emergencies.
Not to my knowledge. He doesn’t seem to eat leaves but I have no real way of knowing what the crickets may have taken a nibble of.
I did wash it with dawn, rinsed it for 10 minutes until there were no bubbles, sprayed it with vinegar, rinsed it for another 20 minutes and replaced the top layer...
I don’t think it will hurt to try and wheat toxicity has caused tons of problems in history. I’m open to anything that’ll help my little Godzilla. I changed out the crickets to just fresh veggies and some mazuri gut loading feed.
Thank you. I’m happy to try this. The breeder recommended the spirulina, bee pollen and sea weed as they give that to their feeders that he was eating before I got him.
Morning update on Godzilla.
I found him in the bottom of his hospital bin both back legs holding his front legs. He was a lot more trusting of me helping him and was happy to run up the cage screen while I reset the hospital bin for the day. He took a large poop with some orange in the urite...
@JacksJill suggested I post on here. My Panther is having neurological issue that I thought were from Duranta erecta toxicity but knowing about grain toxicity symptoms I want to cover all bases.
I got this guy from King Chams. They’ve been absolutely amazing and helpful. “We” have currently...
I did not know about this and will cross post there. Thank you for the advice. The crickets are in a large critter keeper with cardboard. I give them a very small amount of grain (cat food) which I’ll be removing going forward. I feed them fresh vegetables (carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes...
Thank you for all of your help and advice! I did give him some reptivite to get him some vitamin D (breeder guidance) because the rephasy calcium with low D will take over a week to arrive. He IS starting to figure out how to unlatch himself.
Yes, King Chams has been wonderful and supportive...
Thank you!
Handling- I’m considering getting a smaller enclosure while he’s healing and the bearded dragon hammocks are a great idea! I don’t love having him in the little bag he’s in butttt it’s better and safer than him continuing to fall. I would say we’re doing better bonding and he’s not...
He came from King Chams and they’ve been absolutely wonderful in helping me deal with this. I got him Tuesday and the first time I know he fell was Friday. I’m afraid he may have broken something in the fall. I do have a care sheet for him.
As someone mentioned one of the plants I had put in...
Yes, I’m not sure if it is a bruise or internal bleeding. I have him in a hospital bin for now to minimize the falling and hopefully allow for some recovering. The bottom of his cage was bare but after his first fall (that I know of) I put down about 2” of moss to cushion the subsequent falls...
This is what I’m afraid of. I didn’t think it was the philodendron as they’re so closely related to the pothos but I had no idea the dewdrop was so toxic and believe it to be the culprit. A call to animal poison control is a great idea. I forgot about them!
