1. you cooked him, imagine is you were in a tinfoil box with a heat lamp on 24/7
2. not enough water...
If you decide to try another chameleon a few things to try...
1) you do not need a heat lamp, these radiat heat. should you choose to keep using one its not the end of the world but you...
About 3-4 weeks ago my female panther laid eggs.
She lost a ton of weight and since and gained back some weight... .
The largest concern I have now is that she appears more orange than anything else.
For the past 7 months she has had the same feeding schedule, same routine for lights, water...
Cage is dependent on where you live... somewhere dry and cold I recommend an exo terra glass terrarium.. If somewhere humid and hot screen cage.
Use arcadia lighting with a source of heat and a mist king system...
As far as cage design lots of ideas out there...
@jamest0o0
I love the look of the tank but I abandoned the water fall...
I was hoping that I would not need to replace the water every 2-3 days....
So here is where I feel I went wrong...
When I did the drainage layer, I tried to put rocks over top of the hydro balls... Unfortunately...
I am in the midst of building his new "territory"
36Wx36Tx18D... I should be done next weekend... unfortunately I travel alot and needed all the chemicals to settle in before adding the cham to the cage...
I prefer to use a timer with the mist king... if the humudity sensor ever fails the pump will run until the water is empty... then you have tons of water on the floor... NO GOOD..
@Abram, the rating on the UVB look way lower than the sunray which is good/bad... my sunray is about 8" away from basking spot.
@kinyonga I dont disagree with that train of thought. However if you look at nature, when would the chameleon have access to UVB without heat? I guess it is slightly...
I love bio active setups....
If you are worried about ventiliation buy an arduino along with some PC fans and program some code...
I plan to do this with mine when I get around to it I will post pics...
I have a 8 month old panther chameleon.
He is maybe only 5-6 long. Seems awfully low for a chameleon his age (if it is a male). Will try to post pics tonight.
Anyways breeder has recomeneded changing to Arcadia bulbs. Which I'm not against. However I am currently using the Exo terra sun ray...
You can open the control box - CAUTION this voids warranty..... Remove the sticker and there's a screw underneath...
I only recommend this if you know what you are doing with electricity (aka electrician, ccts)
Take note that the control box is not water tight... so if water got in there it...
