    Thinking about a jackson

I have a Jackson, have had a veiled as well as I have both regularly in stock at my store. Jacksons tend to be of a more mild to social temperament. Mine loves to sit on my shoulder, I even took him with me on a brief errand into town today as he tends not to stress easily. They definitely don't...

    Non toxic live plants

I can really only offer up one, but normal lucky bamboo looks great, is cheap and easy to maintain as well as being non toxic. I've heard mixed things about "real" bamboo, and I'm talking about Dracaena braunii. Make sure that any plant you buy from the store is not treated with any nasty...

Is my living situation right for a Chameleon?

I hear that panthers can be either extremely friendly, or extremely aggressive. I wouldn't recommend it if you are wanting a social chameleon unless you can meet it for yourself. You take a major 50/50 chance from what I hear about panthers, and they can be nasty biters. Veileds are definitely...

    I Crack Myself Up

Ha, thanks :) This is dance to get me to let him out. I was worried for a while that he was doing it for other reasons, but he will quickly crawl up my arm and find his place on my shoulder.

    I Crack Myself Up

I had to think about whether or not this could be offensive. I hope not. P.S. Sorry about your dignity Merlin :P

Is my living situation right for a Chameleon?

By the way, when it comes to taming a chameleon, just don't be disappointed if you don't get a social one. They are more often than not "look don't touch" animals. That being said, my Jackson loves to spend time on my shoulder, and they can definitely be social animals. Remember that chameleons...

Is my living situation right for a Chameleon?

Hello there! Let me start off with commiserating with you, I am also from Arizona (Clarkdale, which is kind of by Jerome), so I can speak as to the humidity issue here. I have a male Jackson, however we carry veileds at the store where I work, and both seem to do fairly well here...

    Newbie needed cage filling feedback

I hear great things about panthers, and I do have to admit their colors really are astonishingly beautiful. I just took home a Jackson recently, and I can't tell you how great he's been. He usually stays a lime green, maybe getting some dark green triangles now and then, but his horns and grumpy...

    New Chameleon Owner.

I'm sure you've gotten lots of great information from other users already, but I can go into the behavior. I have owned two chameleons now, and I manage the pet center of the pet store I work at. Chameleons are NOT social creatures for the most part. They usually do not like to be kept together...

    Lucky Bamboo

Indeed, well thanks for your input :P I meant more of that I have found around 85% against the use of real bamboo, while I can't really find anything other than "it shouldn't be toxic, but it could be" for Dracaena braunii.

    Lucky Bamboo

I thought "real" bamboo was toxic? I'm not sure whether or not Merlin will take a bite of it, and I want to be sure it's safe.

    Lucky Bamboo

Thank you very much. I wouldn't imagine toxicity would matter from species to species.

    Lucky Bamboo

Hello there, I have a Jackson who is getting a new, much larger, enclosure soon, and I would love to add some live plants into the mix of things. I really couldn't find a definitive answer to whether or not Dracaena braunii, "Lucky Bamboo" is okay for chams. I have read that almost all...

An update on Merlin! (Mainly For Yak and Lathis)

As some of you may have seen, I had been doing a lot of posting about my new friend, a Jackson named Merlin. I wanted to thank you all, especially Yak and Lathis, for all of your help! It may please you to hear that he is doing well, 3 weeks after coming home with me. His injury to one of his...

    Best First Chameleon

I recently brought home my first chameleon, a Jackson, and I love it! I love the horns and the almost more prehistoric look. Although not particularly fancy in color, usually a bright lime green, he's fairly social! I am of course jaded because he is my first and only, but I work at a pet store...

    A Social Chameleon?!

I've come to the conclusion that Merlin is a spoiled brat >.> I left the room for 10 minutes as an experiment, as I noticed he was looking directly at me whenever he was walking at the glass, and he was up on his vine relaxing, and then began to walk down and paw at the glass. Don't get me...

    A Social Chameleon?!

I have a 12x12x18 at the moment, and am upgrading to a 24x24x36 probably next weekend. I took him out yet again and now he seems to just want to sit by the door and survey things. I work at the store I purchased him from, and I took him out of his little cup they airmailed him in. He wouldn't...

    A Social Chameleon?!

Some of you may be familiar with my rampant threads trying to gain information about my new jackson, Merlin. He's doing fine except he appears to have injured himselfhttps://www.chameleonforums.com/jackson-developed-brown-lump-over-one-his-spikes-118313/. Merlin has been with me a week now, and...

    Superworm/Mealworm Preperation

Hi there, I have a jackson named Merlin, and all the poor guy gets are crickets. Let it be known he's only been with me for a week as of today, but I was curious about other diet options. I work at a pet store, and we sell both mealworms and superworms. I have heard so much banter from both...
