When is the last time u try clean ur chameleon's butt

The problem is that young kids with chameleons as pets sometimes get on here looking for help and might take you seriously.

    13 hour days

@chloe924 Personally, for keeping things simple, I don't touch my timers no matter what time of year it is. If the lights don't turn on in the morning before I need to get feeders ready for my cham, I use a headlamp (like for camping) to get everything ready for my chameleon, including putting...

    Humidity help?

First, early congrats! Also, good job on making sure your husbandry is good BEFORE your cham arrives! This is great! (y)(y) The community here is happy to see this, I promise. I'll leave the humidity advice to the others who have posted and live in your area, especially because I have the...

    lower humidity levels with dehumidifier

@Beman I'm having similar issues too, so you're not alone! I'm in Virginia, so totally different part of the country, but it's pretty humid here and lately my humidity levels have been crazy high! (Around 70-75% in between mistings o_O.) For the short term and for instant results I borrowed an...

    Cats

The horror stories I've read on this site, other sites, and heard on podcasts about cats clawing their way through screen cages to get to reptile pets is pretty scary enough for me. I don't personally have a cat right now, but when I think about potentially getting one, I would most definitely...

    Cameras

Yeah, like anything it's what they're used to and comfortable with. If you brought any "foreign" object near him/her she'd be spooked. Sometimes you have to really try hard to think like a chameleon and not a human, haha.

Depending on what your own personal goals are with your new pet, I highly recommend doing as much research as humanly possible. I do think if I had spent many more hours doing all of the recommending things to gain trust with my chameleon when he was younger, instead of being timid myself, then...

    My first veil comelion

It's a learning opportunity for the kids, which means the parents have to take on the main responsibility. We all know chams aren't easy, almost all reptiles aren't really easy to care for. The care isn't nearly as common sense / common knowledge as pets like dogs and cats. It's definitely sad...

MistKing Repeat Cycle Timer -- Cannot figure it out!

@yesacl76 I see. Sorry you're having trouble! I would definitely reach out to their customer service. That's a good plan. Good luck!!

Play area. Would love your input on this build :)

Thanks for the info! I feel like it's hard to find good quality things to use in cage decor in general. I have at least one of these (below) and it's the same way, can't bend it the opposite way or you're in trouble, haha...

MistKing Repeat Cycle Timer -- Cannot figure it out!

I bought a starter kit and mine was able to program different durations for the misting sessions, so I'm not sure if we do have different timers or if you're still having trouble with it? When I went through the process of setting the start time for a misting session there was also a duration...

Should you handle a baby chameleon?

Oh yesss, not sure if @Matt Vanilla Gorilla knows he's on my radar or not... haha. Thanks @JoshD49 !

Should you handle a baby chameleon?

That's awesome! I'm considering a few things at this point. A free range setup/project is on the list of ideas, but would be pretty tricky with my environment here, haha. I love a good challenge, though. So many ideas and options to get my veiled to warm up a little more. I'm on hold for a bit...

Should you handle a baby chameleon?

@JoshD49  Yeahhh, you know... in this community we like to be responsible... so admittedly I'm going to have to wait for a few life changes to happen... and I'm incredibly off topic of this thread at this point... but PANTHER FEVER is real! I also have bearded dragon fever...definitely...

To @Calummaty Jane and anyone else who stumbles on this... I did listen to several of Bill's podcast episodes...and queued up many more. They are excellent! Personally, I didn't learn a ton of new information about the basics of the "taming" process that I hadn't found in previous research...

Should you handle a baby chameleon?

I finally had a day [today] to listen to SEVERAL of Bill's podcast episodes on handling. I did learn a few new things (would have learned a lot more if I hadn't already researched this topic to death, tbh). The podcast is pretty great on answering these questions! Now I've got the panther...

    Upgrade Questions

The bigger the better, no matter if its female or male. These creatures are still designed for the wild, even though we've made them captive. They love space and more things to explore, so bigger is ALWAYS better!! Also I HIGHLY recommend a dragon strand. It's only a little extra money, but the...

    Chameleon goes crazy sometimes

Oh wow that humidity is definitely too low! I've been supplementing with a humidifier in the winter FOR SURE. Don't you have a panther chameleon too? They need it even higher than veiled's [on average].
