Yeah, haha, that happens. Last night I even had a superworm escape the feeder cup (a first time for me), and it could fit through my drainage holes, so it actually ended up in an empty drainage bucket and was still alive in the morning.... fun times! It's kind of just part of the life at this...
Hahaha, I don't know anything about gaming computers, but I thought I saw a small tray for 3D printing. Anyways, glad to know the lights will be off for your cham. :D
I looked up the rain nozzle since I don't have one, never used one, and am not familiar with it. I'm not sure it would help...
@RyanBRZ Looking back at your picture...is that a small 3D printer in the corner? Can those lights, or the machine turn off too? I wonder if all of the other lights in the room are off if those lights are bright enough to keep a cham awake. It's iffy, and if it was me and my cham I'd definitely...
Yeah, I'd just see how your cham reacts. Mine just seemed really sensitive, but also the sun comes directly into my window in the morning...and I had thin white curtains...so it's all in the details! The first few weeks are so crucial in that you will need to almost embody Jane Goodall and...
I missed some of this! Sorry! Running low on coffee in my house this week. o_O Definitely trust this site on humidity levels. You said you were getting a panther chameleon right? They NEED higher humidities and 30% just isn't going to cut it. There are several ways to increase humidity. I live...
Yeah, and if you're going to keep him inside year-round it shouldn't affect anything. It is okay to change their lighting schedule slightly from time to time (some people change it seasonally, especially for the time change and whatnot), but just like us humans, they do best on a regular...
I've seen many threads where people quote reptilesmagazine and it reports seemingly wrong information. I wouldn't trust it, even though it seems trustworthy. Everybody on this site agrees that panther chameleons' basking should be closer to 85-87 degrees...so I'd trust the veterans who have...
Have you seen a YouTube video on how to make one of these milk jug feeder cups? I just noticed you can't see in my posted picture what it really is on the inside.
Thank you! Great question! Most of them stay in the cup, but I usually have a few who do acrobatics and get out, especially larger crickets. My 7ish month old cham sometimes finds them and eats them.
Some people use deeper deli/solo cups so the crickets can't jump out. Just be careful with...
@Jennyontheblock Sounds like you're doing great! I was also worried about my cham spending practically all of his time in the upper 1/4 - 1/3 of his enclosure, but this can be normal behavior. I also recommend placing the grow light on the top of the enclosure instead of the side, even if it...
Is the pump vibrating on something hard? You could potentially place a towel under it. I've even had to play around with my Mistking pump and the hoses when it comes to the noises it makes, haha. I feel ya!
If you're short on money then hand misting can work for now, but you do NEED to mist somehow. For the long term you might want to invest in a monsoon or Mistking, but like everyone keeps saying, and like all the caresheets say, chameleons need a minimum 2-3 mistings a day for multiple reasons...
Wow! Glad to hear that your T5HO's are lasting that long (and the meters are helping you out) because that is a lot of savings with that many cages. What brand bulbs are you buying, out of curiosity?
I initially bought a used enclosure off Craigslist and washed it in the driveway with a hose. I had a bucket for a bleach solution to scrub it all down with, and hose it off again. One of the neighbors eventually came over and asked, "What the heck are you doing?" I just said, "Oh I'm cleaning...
