I disinfected an old rat cage, and am planning on using it as an outdoor enclosure, for when I am out doing yardwork. I put some plants in there, to see how it would look/work, and noticed that the cage was covered with chiggers, just that quickly. Will they harm my chameleon? Is there a way...
I watched a video that @Gingero posted, and she used a milk jug with a thumbtack hole poked in the bottom....works really well! She has great informational videos :)
I upgraded my enclosure to a 2 x 2 x 4, and added the correct bulbs, got a homemade feeder and dripper installed, and added some live plants(I will get some more for up top, maybe some ivy plants?). Please let me know how it looks(for now) and if I've forgotten anything.... thanks!
The one I got from PetSmart is supposedly their "brand", in comparison to Reptisun. I looked online last night ad found this light, I will order today...
This is all I see about the bulb:
DESCRIPTION Provide essential, UVB, UVA, and visible light for your tropical reptile(s) with the help of this Thrive Tropical 25-Watt UVB Bulb. This bulb provides essential UVB (Type B Ultraviolet Light) rays in lieu of natural sunlight that promote bone...
Handling: a little of both, but mainly voluntary
Water: what should I use, as he didn't like the dripper waterer?
Cage: I planned on upgrading it as he grew, this is what he came with, as he was a gift
Light: Take out the 18" UVB bulb as well? And is the T5HO light the same thing as the...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - veiled chameleon approximately 14 weeks old. I received it on Dec 28,2019
Handling - A couple of times a week

I am working on replacing his lighting this week....I have to find them either instore or online and order them. I will fill out this form, when I get back in from daily errands :)
I received this chameleon as a gift on Dec 28th.....I am guessing male, because of the possible spur on the back feet. I was told it turned 6 weeks on Dec 1st. Would like someone with more knowledge to help me out :) Thanks!
I am not 100% sure it is a male, just guessing due to the small "knot" on his back feet. As far as the husbandry goes, all I need to upgrade is the light, and will be doing that this weekend :) And my location is South Carolina.
I was recently given a young veiled chameleon from a friend. I have been doing lots and lots of research on them and have learned quite a bit, but still have a lot more to learn. Would anyone here possibly know about how old he is?
