    I finally got one!! ...HELP!

Ok. I'm having a bit of a hard time following exactly what you mean but it sounds like you have made good arrangements for drainage. A quick sketch or diagram might be helpful. At any rate, as long as you are able to collect and remove standing water you are good. All you need now is good...

    New Panther Enclosure

The selection is great but some of the prices are, unfortunately, very Korean  I believe they have to pay a great deal more than the US in import fees though. Was very tempted to purchase more Bradypodion thamnobates but $1,500 a pair was too hard to justify (and my wife would kill me)...

    Tip of Tail Severed

Thank you all for the replies. The bleeding stopped pretty quickly after the accident and the exposed end seems to have clotted well. I will stop applying ointment and keep observing for signs of infection. I just thank god it was only 1 cm. If she had closed the door even one second sooner it...

Here's a closeup I took after returning home from work. Reapplied ointment just before taking this photo.

    I finally got one!! ...HELP!

Plans sound great. I'm eager to see how everything turns out. Did you decide what to do about water drainage? Also I'd advise against using acrylic panels on the sides as mist/humidity will cause it to warp tremendously.

    Introducing Kismet! (FEmale Translucent Veiled)

That is really cool ... I didn't know there was translucent veiled morph until I saw this thread. Kismet is one gorgeous and very lucky chameleon!

    New Panther Enclosure

Koreans really seem to love plants so there is a good variety here ... the trouble comes when trying to search for a plant I want or ID a plant from its Korean name o_O The same was true of chameleon variety but a chameleon fanatic opened up a shop here recently that sells nothing but...

    Plant Light Bio Questions

Both, I'd imagine. Our ultimate goal should be to replicate natural conditions as closely as possible. Few more things are more unnatural than spending all day under blue and red lights.

    Plant Light Bio Questions

I don't have personal experience but tons of people here seem to recommend the SANSI grow lights. Here is a link to a SANSI e26 bulb: SANSI 36W Daylight LED Plant Light Bulb Full Spectrum In the absence of specific PAR data we can generally assume full spectrum "daylight" bulbs to be good for...

    Tip of Tail Severed

Just asked my wife to take and send a photo ... she doesn't like touching reptiles so this is the best she could do: Full body shot:

    Tip of Tail Severed

You're right, I guess I should have said "fairly minor amputation." It's the difference between getting the tip of your finger sliced off versus losing it at the knuckle. I don't think this injury will have any practical impact on my chameleon or his health, but am worried about possible...

    Tip of Tail Severed

Had a friend over for dinner with his family last night and let his daughter hold and hand feed my panther chameleon. She wanted to put my panther back in his enclosure and shut the door before his tail was fully inside. About 1 cm (2/5 inches) at the end of his tail was severed. I cleaned...

    Plant Light Bio Questions

Agree 100%. Lumens is almost meaningless for plants. PAR (Photosynthetic Active Radiation) is the figure that counts and is based on the amount of light in the spectra (spectrum plural?) that affects photosynthesis. When I first got into planted aquariums I knew alot about this. Now all I can...

    Plant Light Bio Questions

If you have the time and patience, DIY LED is a great way to go. I use Bridgelux Vero COB LED arrays connected to a Coralux StormX Arduino-based controller. DIY allows you the freedom to control every aspect of your lighting and you can typically go much stronger than anything you would find in...

    Plant lighting + other questions.

I purchased that exact fixture for a 24 x 18 x 24 gecko enclosure. The LEDs were not bad but not spectacular - which I expected given the listed wattage. The plants thrived but I assume part of that is because the enclosure was not very tall. Like UVB, PAR (photosynthetic active radiation) drops...

    I finally got one!! ...HELP!

A UVB tube won't even be close to sufficient for plants. You will probably need at least 3 light sources - one for UVB, another for visible light and a third for heat (the basking lamp). There are bulbs that allow you to combine UVB and heat (mercury vapor, metal hallide), or strong visible...

    I finally got one!! ...HELP!

There are actually no better bulbs than the Reptisun and Arcadia bulbs I linked (unfortunately it seems Amazon doesn't sell Arcadia bulbs but you can find them at Light Your Reptiles, Josh's Frogs, LLLReptiles and a number of other retailers). The Arcadia are known to last quite a bit longer so...

    I finally got one!! ...HELP!

He said he already purchased a 24 x 24 x 48 cage but hasn't set it up yet. The current enclosure I presume is the one he came with from the original owner. You're going to want a 24 inch T5 HO fixture for UVB and either Zoomed Reptisun T5HO 5% or Arcadia T5HO 6% 24 inch bulbs. Since you said...

    New Panther Enclosure

That's kind of interesting. I was felt jealous towards people living in the US for the variety of, well just about everything, available to them there, and at much cheaper prices. A single adult panther chameleon here sells for no less than $800. Unfortunately, the bulbophyllum is no longer in...
