I used to love to watch by little dude hunt, but he's free range now so it's not really a choice. It's literally the weirdest feeling when you get shot by them though.
So I always either handfeed or cupfeed, typically a mix of both. The second my little buddys see's the cup he runs towards it, but the past couple of days instead of hopping right into the cup and going for the feeders he stalk around it and tries to shoot at my finger tips unless I move the cup...
I think I'll try out one of those megarays pretty soon, I switched back to his old bulb which gets to around 83-84 in spots. Usually when I measure with the gun I scan him, and a couple of areas around him. I do have the height measured to be somewhere about 8-10 inches along the basking area...
Currently with the 100watt I put in today its barely reaching about 80 degrees so far. If I lower it anymore he will just be able to grad hold of the hood and climb on. And thats good to know he will go back when and if he needs it, I dont want him getting sick and dying from running around my...
Oh, and another problem thats less of an issue for now, is that I cannot for the life of me get my lighting to 90 degrees no matter the wattage of the lightbulb, or wether its intense basking spot or a normal incandescent type bulb. I currently am trying a 100watt daytime heatbulb and I cant...
So I recently started free ranging my veiled, and the thing is he would rather run around my bed or my room and explore or sit in the window all day than stay in his trees (which are higher than anything else in my room) and under his lights. Now I am worried that he wont be getting enough UVB...
Just an update, here's his new setup and so far he seems to be absolutely loving it. There's barely enough room for all the plants on the table and he's probably about a foot higher as well. Thanks guys!
I realized that very quickly after getting him home and doing further research on this site. Every time I go back for crickets I see their sad little chams and get upset but their literally the only pet shop in our town.
I think I'm going to start working on creating a free range setup to...
If the issue is cage size would my free range idea also be a suitable idea? I don't really have the money for another cage since this one was bought new for this chameleon and school just starting back up, although when I purchased him Petco had originally told me he was a she, so the cage would...
