What kind of chameleon are you getting? :D
I struggle with humidity all year long. I put plastic on the sides of my cage and it's not a huge deal, but it's kind of ugly and it's something I'd like to move past. So, I've decided to save up for a Dragon Strand breeders cage...
So I've heard that chameleons are often considered "bad luck" or "bring evil spirits" in their native lands, does anyone have more information about that?
Maybe an article, book, or further explanation?
Also, I'm assuming that refers to Madagascar, are there similar negative feelings about...
I don't typically water the plants in my carpets terrarium because the mist does it enough, but recently I rearranged them and one of the plants was looking a little sad.
So I filled a cup with water, and started to slowly pour. My little carpet, Telo, saw this and walked up in front of it...
I'v seen that video, it's one of my favorites. Gah, so brutal.
There's a local pet shop here and the guy who owns it sometimes feeds his cham pinkies. I think his days are numbered though because many people in the community disapprove of his animals living conditions.
Whoa, that's super interesting. :D I'd like to see something like that one day. One of my chameleons poops in the same area, the other doesn't. I wonder if this would be easier to do with a smaller cham.
Wow, my girlfriend and I were talking about this last night and I was going to post the same question today.
We were thinking about fish though. Not doing it, neither of us have the experience, space, or money for a viv even half that ambitious.
But in theory, would it be possible to set...
:D Hahaha, I definitely prefer quality time with my cats, but I do selfishly enjoy getting to take my veiled out onto his tree. I think he likes getting to have two territories though, he gets a little cage crazy.
My carpet could spend forever in his cage and never want out, but I prefer him...
Patience, so much patience.
With my veiled I had to start with hiding behind a plant and slowly getting him to eat in front of me. Then long tweezers, and waiting an extra day. Then shorter tweezers, then using a worm in the palm of my hand.
Getting him to eat a cricket from me was a huuuge...
I've heard that carpets are super shy, and don't really enjoy being handled.
My carpet, Telo, doesn't mind at all. I wouldn't say he asks to be let out, but he'll walk onto my hand willingly and has only once hissed (but he fell and I think he was kinda startled).
I have no idea why he's so...
I think that little guy looks like a panther.
I'm not very familiar with panthers though, so hopefully one of the more experienced members can talk about possible locale.
There's also an area of the site for cham identification, and there only senior members can reply so you might get better...
Wow, I've never seen a chain pet store with panthers. Their prices always seem weird to me.
$90 for a tiny veiled's, 150 for a panther?
I complained to my petco about their cage size, and they finally listened to me when a female jax died (although we all know there were plenty more...
There are some amazing points being made in this thread. :D
Chameleons definitely get fired up in the wild, it's how they developed this amazing ability. It's communication. Nothin more natural.
On the other hand, I want my chameleons life to be better than it would be in the wild. Honestly...
