    Welcome Herbert!

Thanks everyone! Andrew and I have been texting, so he'll get updates. My chams have their own room (but can't see each other), and the door is left open with a baby gate in front for my cats. One can has too stumpy of legs to clear the gate, the other is too stupid to know that he can (he's...

    Welcome Herbert!

I recently was able to re-home Herbert from @Andrew1283 and he's starting to settle in nicely. I was able to get a couple of pics today before freaking him out too much, and I look forward to watching him grow and become accustomed to life here at my house.

    Adult Chameleons for Adoption

I'm so grateful you allowed me to adopt Herbert. He's settling in nicely, and I hope to snap some good photos tomorrow. He's back to his non-stressed colors and is exploring his cage.

New chameleon owner I rescued him in bad shape HELP ME!

If you don't have your heart set on a baby you can often find an adult in good health that needs to be re-homed. I'm about to get my third boy next week, all which have been re-homed, but are all in good shape. This time of year especially, when people have gone away to school and don't...

New chameleon owner I rescued him in bad shape HELP ME!

I'm so sorry that it ended this way, but this is actually the beginning for you. When you are ready you will be very well prepared to bring home a new chameleon and care for them. Baldar would have been very difficult for even experienced keepers to rehabilitate, you did an amazing job and you...

New chameleon owner I rescued him in bad shape HELP ME!

From what I've heard it's the Wild West over there on Reddit, so I stay far away from them. You've received, and will continue to receive a ton of great information here. Keep up the great work!

    Happy Birthday…Becca!

Happy Belated Birthday Becca! Sorry I missed it, but it just means that you get to extend the celebration a little bit. Also, you are about 6 months younger than me, so enough of this "old" talk! :ROFLMAO:

New chameleon owner I rescued him in bad shape HELP ME!

There are ebbs and flows while caring for sick chameleons. You are doing an amazing job, and have learned so much in such a short amount of time. Remember that he had months to get into the bad shape that you found him in, so there won't be an instantaneous fix that pops him back into shape...

I did it: I managed to bring myself to only feed Spike every other day

I came on here to add my two cents to the feeding discussion, but now I'm just so sorry for your loss. Good luck in your new home, and cherish all the memories you and your child have of your mother.

New chameleon owner I rescued him in bad shape HELP ME!

You are really doing great with him, I just read through the whole post. You mentioned a smell - my guess is it's from parasites in his poop. When you have your vet visit and give them a fecal they can confirm that. Good luck, keep it up, and follow Miss Skittles' advice - she really is very...

    Hurricane Prep and Reptiles

We were extremely lucky here in Naples - I'm 20 miles inland so I don't know what the surge was like by the coast, but we never lost power or wifi. Now to wait until it's light to "un-batten the hatches"! Hoping others in worse-affected areas are doing ok too, I haven't checked the news...

    Hurricane Prep and Reptiles

Thanks everyone - most prep is done, just have to double-check the go-boxes and pull in my hanging orchids tomorrow. It looks like I'm going to be pretty good down here in Naples, but my heart goes out to everyone in the Tampa/Clearwater/Sarasota area. It's a beautiful area, hope this isn't as...

    Hurricane Prep and Reptiles

Hi All! With Milton barreling down on those of us in FL, I figured it was a good time to brush off some helpful hints and tricks I've learned in my 20+ years of living down here. 1. Get feeders now. Don't get them shipped, unless you are paying for overnight, because they will be delayed in...

These guys are so cool - I used to live on St. John and they were terrifying when I saw them!

    first time vet visit 🤕

I absolutely understand about not feeling comfortable enough about speaking out and I'm sorry you had to go through this. Clearly you won't be going back to this vet, and you may want to email the vet that they are connected to and let them know what happened so that the professionals can...

    Nervous something is not right.

You are absolutely on the right path and Beman is an excellent keeper to help guide you. One important thing to remember is that you just got him, so EVERYTHING there is new to him. He was checking it all out, learning about his new environment, and now that he's seen it all he's slowly...

Looking to rehome Veiled chameleon/ Daytona Beach, FL

Is this veiled still available? I just lost 2 of my boys to old age and am looking to give a new one a good home.

I don’t think my boy is going to make it :(

I'm so sorry to hear this - if you do believe he is passing, place him back in the cage, in a spot where he can't fall, and turn out the lights, letting him pass in peace. This is only to be done if he is truly at the end, but the wildly changing colors would seem to indicate that he is.

    Best place to start?

When I started keeping reptiles I did my research on here and jumped in with a male panther. I had never owned a reptile before, but 15 years later I'm thrilled that I did. I've kept both panthers and veileds, males and females. For me, personally, I wouldn't get a female again but that's a...
