MDB or Gout - Includes Xrays

The vet just wanted to keep hydration high and watch the protein, as his counts were elevated but not at the threshold. There is medication for it but if I recall correctly it has some pros and cons to consider - like add’tl stress on kidneys. Dont quote me as it has been a few years.

Things that are not helpful on the forums...

For me - the closer, more convenient exotic vet personally owned chameleons and regularly treats and also rehabs reptiles. The specialty / higher end vet did pretty extensive research on chams and literally wrote a text book (some say THE textbook) on chameleons. Dr Stahl… unfortunately his...

    Grasshoppers as feeders

I believe locusts and grasshoppers are the same thing, just different terms depending on geographic area. How large is your chameleon? I would be careful to feed appropriately sized grasshoppers if they are not large, adult chameleons. If they get too big, try to breed them but don’t feed. We...

    Monstera plant safety

Yep they are all ok to use - they have the same toxicity as pothos (insoluble calcium oxalates).

    Monstera plant safety

This is Monstera Deliciosa. It is safe for an enclosure but it is, in my opinion, too large a plant for a typical enclosure. It outgrew my 2x4x6 very quickly. Give it a bamboo stick or moss pole and the leaves will mature much faster and tidier.

    Monstera plant safety

Swiss cheese plant usually refers to either Monstera Deliciosa or Monstera Adansonii. If you have a photo I can help with ID. They are both aroids and both Monstera. Aroids typically vine and climb, including Adansonii and Deliciosa. The leaves will get more mature and significantly larger as...

Big Long Eggs. Could it be Twins?

Wow, very interesting! I wonder if twins are more likely in their entire bloodline, like in humans? Or simply a fluke.

    Hemipenis Prolapse and Amputation

Spring at last!!! This is a very special month - its mine and my son’s bday month, the “gotcha” and/or hatch month for many of the chams… one of the girls even hatched on my son’s bday! This is Donnie’s gotcha month, and he is now 6.5 years old. He is a little slower, and goes to bed a bit...

Does anyone know what this is on one of my plants?

Not much to worry about, if that’s what it is. For some plants like orchids it might be a problem personally I’d not worry. If its affecting your plants negatively you can “cut” the water for your mister with half distilled half tap.

Does anyone know what this is on one of my plants?

My guess is either: excess minerals. plants, especially aroids like pothos and philodendrons, transpire through their leaves which often collects at the tip or margins of the leaf. If there is excess mineral in the soil / water they can shed it. Sorta like plant snalt :p. Sometimes light can...

US Feeler, looking for K. Boehmei

I'm not in the market today, but wanted to put out some feelers to see if anyone is working with K. Boehmei and has sexually mature males or females that would be available this summer. I have 3 three holdbacks from 2020 clutch, and am contemplating finding either a male or female mate to...

@kinyonga *whispers…* any idea on kinyongia? I know that you kept this species. I say kin - yawn-g-ah

    Jumping chameleon…kinyongia vosseleri…

Are you sure that is not a crested gecko? ! I can’t say I have seen that level of enthusiasm from my Kinyongia Boehmei, but they are certainly the most acrobatic of my chameleons! They do make mini leaps of faith from branch to branch, but their extra long tails are always still anchoring them.

    Color of Reptaid Immune Support?

I wouldnt use the reptaid after antibiotics. Just over medicating and risking stress on the kidneys. I do keep it on hand for emergencies, but always hydrate With the longest mist session possible. My vet cautions that it can cause alcohol toxicity if used incorrectly or for more than a few...

    Color of Reptaid Immune Support?

That color looks normal. I use reptaid myself. I believe what’s in the smaller vial is the alcohol suspension liquid… Or maybe that’s vice versa. I believe that they separate the ingredients because once you mix them the shelf life is not as long. That is my guess. Sometimes I see a little bit...
