Are you hovering over him when he eats? I would just give him space. Many chameleons will not eat while being watched, especially if they are unfamiliar with you. With new chams, I find it best to leave the insects in the enclosure and then walk away.
Did you ever read any of the resources that were linked to you in your last thread? There is plenty of information in those links... It is not a very good idea to setup the vivarium the day of getting a chameleon. It can take weeks to fine-tune their enclosures
Overall, I'd say you're doing a pretty good job! There are a couple changes I would recommend:
Your cricket gutload looks like it might be lacking. Apples are not a very nutritious gutload - what is the "cricket powder" you use? Depending on what it is, you may be a-okay, though. As for fresh...
Sure, I agree with you that no scientist should be taken as gospel! I have not said anything of the sort to indicate otherwise. All I was talking about was respect and pointing out that there are in fact credentials to be found. I'm a molecular biologist. I work in a lab daily. I interact with...
Regardless of your reasons for making character judgments, this is not an appropriate place for it. I have indeed spoken to Petr before, and I continue to disagree. Here's just a couple citations, a simple google search away...
That's probably what I would try, too. I even have pothos cuttings from the same plant in two different enclosures which sit right next to each other. Same lighting, everything. And weirdly, the cuttings in one of the vivaria are growing out of control, while the other is barely hanging on...
Colored lights are not recommended for use with chameleons (which are color sensitive), so I would personally switch to white 6500K plant lights. I think your misting schedule is perfectly fine - above average even!
Typically the stretching behavior (long distance between leaves) in plants is related to lack of lighting, so that would be my best guess. Pothos are kind of weird, though IME. Usually described as a low light and easy to care for plant, but sometimes they just don't do well
It is so embarrassing the way some of you talk about Petr.
Even if you disagree with or question some of the things he says, that does NOT give you the green light to question his character (see words like "eccentric," "close-minded", etc.) and essentially subtweet about him, leaving it to him...
That's a very interesting and strange choice of animal for them to bring! In many cultures, chameleons are considered bad luck or associated with "dark arts" and it is more common that they are killed or avoided than intentionally brought to new places. Wish I had an answer for ya
Holding an eye closed is very concerning. Since you just got the cham, it is almost impossible that it was your fault. You probably purchased an animal that was already sick. Where did you purchase it? Please post photos
I think you are being much too hard on yourself! Thermal burns are very common and Charlie's does not look bad at all. While it is, of course, unfortunate that it happened at all, it does not seem that he is injured in any significant way. It's just good that you noticed earlier rather than...
What kind of enclosure are you using? And what is your current approach to drainage?
All I can imagine right now is a dripping wet screen cage depositing all of its water contents directly onto your table haha. As for tables, I would go to craigslist/fb marketplace/a thrift store of some sort...
