If you're taking him to the vet on Thursday, bring a fresh fecal sample that's no more than 24 hours old if you can. Get one and put it in a baggie and put it in the fridge and bring it with you to the appointment. A fecal float will hopefully be able to tell you if he has parasites/eliminate...
You said his poop smelled "too rancid to handle" - are his poops really stinky? If so, that's often signs of parasites. Chameleon poop shouldn't really even have a smell unless it's super new and you're pretty close to it. If you're smelling horribly bad poops then that's not normal either. Has...
Man that last pic should be another example of being able to point out where their airway is. That's a perfect picture of it.
As far as the swelling, goodness... What on earth can be causing it? I know you've taken amazing care of her since you got her... Perhaps this is remnants of how far...
And DEFINITELY do what @Gloriawood said. Wrap a sheet around the bottom of the cage so she can't see anyone who might be looking at her. IF she feels it's not safe to lay, she'll stop. Then she'll become egg-bound and without surgery, could die. This is a very, very important thing to get right...
It's not ideal but if she's digging, then in my opinion, do NOT disturb her. She NEEDS to get those eggs out. (@MissSkittles please chime in if you have a different opinion).
Make sure you read over the link MissSkittles gave you VERY closely and follow the instructions exactly. Female chams...
Just as a quick fix to an oopsie - here's Neptune the Chameleon's youtube channel. MissSkittles accidentally pasted Chameleon Academy twice: (this particular video she JUST posted and is an overall Panther care guide - EXCELLENT timing!)
She definitely looks like she's going to lay eggs. But you MUST set up a lay bin. I'm concerned because she's not had the proper supplements and lighting so she might not be able to lay the eggs on her own. You need to take her to a vet right away. CHeck the vet list to see if one is in your...
It looks like there could be quite a few things concerning that could be causing it. My first inclination is she needs to eggs - has she laid eggs before? Have you seen her digging?
I also don't see proper UVB lighting - that means she's probably not getting the right UVB or Vitamin D and thus...
I wish the post reaction emojis were more accurate. I'd throw a care/hug your way if I could. I think you made the best decision you could within your means. 2k out of nowhere is a LOT of money. That the vet can give him relief and nurse Grif back to health, with a good place to live, is an...
For Panthers and even veileds, it's totally fine to drop into the 60s at night. As low as 55 is totally fine - they need that temp drop for proper bodily function and deep sleep.
you've looked through this site, right? https://chameleonacademy.com/veiled-chameleon-care/ - if not, that's...
Double check what's in your commercial gutload too. If you're high-dosing your feeders with A or D3 or any other nutrients, that could lead to the upset in his system as well. Personally, I just gutload with fresh greens and a little fruit and call it good. I give my guy his vitamins 2x/mo and...
I'm no expert, so hopefully others pop in here... But from what I can tell, your husbandry looks pretty great, minus dropping basking area by a few degrees, which was already addressed. Your gutloading and vitamin rotation seems good too so I wouldn't anticipate an A or D3 overdose either...
Lol he'll calm down - Dubia don't really bite. They have really soft mouthparts and can't really do any damage. You'll probably find that dubia like 3 months from now as a big boy in a very unexpected surprise. :ROFLMAO: But as far as safety, you don't have to worry about bites/attacks on your...
I hope you're overreacting too. You're real stressed about everything going on. IT's possible it's something. I'd say it's probable that it isn't. I'd keep notes and if you end up with a preponderance of evidence of something wrong, I'd say take action. But you're doing the right thing...
How long? A yawn or even just being a living creature that does things could explain it. I've caught Boogie puffing his gular out and such from time to time. He's just being a dude doing his thing. Hopefully she's just stretching out or maybe she did get a bit warm. I'd note it, and let it go...
She'll probably be okay. Just keep eyes out for bruising or unusual behavior... Boogie practically jumped out of my hands when I first got him, and hit a branch then landed on the metal shelving that I have his enclosure on... Little jerk scared the CRAP out of me, but he was just fine. Nachito...
You may be seeing "snalt" which is a salty discharge that chams sometimes have. That's normal.
As far as shedding, keep to your normal misting sessions. Chams are dry shredders and extra water on a shedding skin can cause it to stick and be difficult for her to remove.
I agree with Beman here. She looks really stressed out, and light through a window doesn't give proper UVB. I'd leave her alone in her cage for a while, with lots of small insect food options, and let her settle down. Those dark spots are "upset" colors.
Also agree that your cham is a female...
Your plants will grow. You definitely want to add some sticks going horizontally cross the new cage when you get it - the flimsy leaves will help her hide if she wants to, and they'll get bigger and stronger as they grow.
Her surroundings have changed, and if I recall she's in too small a...
60 is okay. :) they can go as low as 55. 60 is pretty ideal.
This site may help too... It's long but tons of great info. The forums here are wonderful for help, and a lot of the info we get comes from this expert keeper. He's got info, podcasts, dozens of years of experience raising and...
