As a side note it looks like it’s a much, much higher ratio of Vitamin A to 25(OH)D3 in the livers of these chameleons in the Hoby study
Sooooo..........🤷♂️
Welcome to the forum. There’s lots of experienced keepers here that may be able to help you with your chameleon. It’s symptoms are very concerning
Frequently health issues come from problems with husbandry. If you fill out this form, it will supply more information for folks to understand you...
No. In other animals.
so this sites the Hoby study. I have some questions about this study. It gives data on veiled chameleon serum calcium and 25-hydroxy D3, and liver levels of 25-hydroxy D3 and vitamin A which is very cool and some of the first data of its kind
I’m unsure why groups that...
In my opinion yes, eventually they’ll all look the same or they’ll all be some Supra-colored version. That’s not as interesting to me as being able to see them as they exist in the wild, but that’s just me
However, that doesn’t mean that these vivid colored hybrids aren’t marketable, they’...
Cod liver oil for one, but I’ve read anywhere from 5:1 to 10:1 A to D
This article cites 7.5:1

I’m not sure of the overall consequences
My guess is that most of the captive population is going to have homogeneous genetics. I would guess most breeders have had very little idea of the genetics of their females for many years. I don’t think this diminishes the experience of the average...
However, even if this is the case, storage ratio does not necessarily reflect dietary requirements.
One could easily be avidly stored over another for a variety of reasons
And as you know, chameleon keeping can be done very successfully (multiple generations, keeping and breeding of species considered very difficult to keep) without any preformed A and D in the supplementation routine
I’ve been reading a lot about calcium and phosphorus homeostasis lately. So most actions of 1,25 dihydroxy vitamin D3 require complex first with vitamin D receptors (VDR) and then with retinoic acid X receptors (RXR). Only then can it affect gene transcription and produce proteins/effects...
Does anyone know if exoterra uses tempered glass on the bottom panel?
If it’s tempered glass, you can’t drill it. It will literally explode (I’ve seen it and picked a small piece of glass out the guy running the drill). If it’s not tempered, it can definitely be done with the proper drill...
It may be something you can find over the counter, but you should be cautious using any medication on your animals without the direction of a qualified vet. You can cause more harm than good if they’re used inappropriately
It does look like a burn. I think you can follow your vets recommendations if it does not appear to be worsening
Silver sulfadiazine cream is what is traditionally used to prevent infections in second and third degree burns. If it worsens at all, you should return to the vet
Your immediate...
