They’re pretty derpy too. These aren’t my snakes but this is classic for them! They try to eat their food sideways more often than not and get confused easily. My male Sketti the other day missed his pinky and bit himself and it took him longer than it should have to figure that out and try...
They have a mild venom that can be very irritating to some people. They have rear fangs so to envenomate you they kind of need to chew on you. Luckily I don’t have any reaction to it but some people get swollen fingers because of it if they get bitten.
Captive bred ones are started on mice so that’s no problem but they still can be picky. My littlest male didn’t eat for 7 months! Didn’t lose weight so just waited him out for a while. Eventually used toad scent on his pinkies to get him eating then he hasn’t stopped since.
Very chill! Every once in a while they get surprised and feisty but it’s brief and they’re more bark than bite. Penne the female gets so excited to eat that she’s bitten me on accident more than once. But she just REALLY wants her food!
This is Penne, Sketti, and Ramen :) I treated a female for being egg bound (ended up needing to surgically remove two eggs) and I just fell in love with the species! Penne and Sketti are siblings and they’re all still babies but growing quick and I just love them!
Love seeing what else everyone is keeping! Here’s my menagerie :)

That is a color change of the skin itself, not rot or fungal or skin infection. The color change in the skin can be a response to external or internal factors. External may have been trauma - she fell or got poked that area. I’ve seen chameleons do that after giving an injection through the skin...
I consider it always gutloading because I always keep good foods in with the bugs. I guess it's semantics on which way you look at it. ;) But there's no reason why you wouldn't want them to have access to the nutritious foods that will allow them to pass on those nutrients to what eats them.
Everyone settle down.
@ERKleRose you can't control who responds to a post that is public in the world of the internet. You are taking things very personally when I do not believe that was the intended effect in this case. If you ask a public forum for feedback you will get feedback from a...
Hello there, the casque was burned into the deeper layers and the damaged tissue has fallen off because it was dead. He will have a permanent scar where the burn occurred. You need to adjust the heat bulb to prevent this from happening again.
Petr how can you constantly throw a fit when someone suggests chameleons are from arid regions and rant about their tropical environment and how much annual precipitation there is much higher than anyone thinks...and then turn around and say “ Many chameleons have no access to liquid water for a...
ALL of this! Replicating nature is great when it is beneficial to our pets and is feasible. But unfortunately, being in captivity causes constraints and changes that sometimes limit our ability to do so and have to be taken into consideration. That means substitutions of feeders and gutloading...
@CasqueAbove I believe that I did say that but if that was not conveyed well then I didn't do the best job of explaining my thought process so for that I apologize.
@CasqueAbove unfortunately there are no studies at the data you seek, much to my dismay as well. My point on that particular topic is that the perception of it being "safe and natural" can lead to overuse and I've seen some problems occur a bit too coincidentally after starting bee pollen too...
Another key to remember here is that not all proteins are the same. Animal based proteins (as usually used in dog foods) have more amino acids types than plant based proteins and depending on the type of amino acids they are broken down into different waste products. Animal based protein amino...
