A year or so ago I created an "introduction" thread for people to post their picture and introduce themselves. I think lots of people were surprised to see how many women were behind the screen names of the members here!
I would just like to say that I love this forum and this community. What rings out to me from this thread is how much this forums helps people. Tons of long-time keepers who have been through a lot with their chameleons provide a rich environment for learning. Things are still changing in how we...
If he has been in that enclosure for 3 years there is a variety of things that could be wrong -- including MBD.
His enclosure should be a minimum of 2 ft by 2 ft by 4 ft tall.
He should have a linear uvb light that goes across the whole top of the cage. Not having this and not having D3 for...
No light / heat at night is necessary. Unless your house drops below 60 degrees which I doubt. Does the calcium contain D3? A pic of the supplements you use is helpful. Also how long have you had him? The form asks all these questions and the devil is in the details.
Could you please fill out the complete form with as much detail as possible. Also please include a photo of the entire enclosure including the lights at the top. Location that you are in is important too as he will probably need a vet visit.
I named my first chameleon Mona because she had a grumpy old lady attitude. Eventually I started calling her Mona Lavender after the Mona Lavender plant I had in my house and because she was a gorgeous purple / lavender color. Like all my pets, she ended up with many nick names (Momo...
As jacksjil said, the bumps look similar but Cozas are only located in bone areas. Either way, I think I'll switch my supplements and use the LoD twice a month.
I use it ever time I feed but I dust it VERY lightly. I feed 2-3 times a week. I also occasionally fast my girl in attempts to get a more varied diet (she will only eat crickets and silworms and flies, not larvae) . So far that regiment has prevented egg laying as well. She's 2 1/2.
Very interesting. I'm so glad I asked this question. Would the calcium deposits show up on x-ray? It's weird bc they're so symmetrical in placement and size. Skin lesions, yikes. Looks like I'll be switching up my supplemtation and discussing with my vet. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
