Im making roach and grain eating insect chow tomorrow. Mealworms, superworms, roaches, isopods, crickets, and I am sure a few others will nibble at this stuff and I am so glad to have it back in the rotation. Dry chow is just as useful when its made right as healthy fruits or veggies. However...
I live in a place that is like... consistently warm all year except for 3 months. What are seasons? None exist here. Lol. My aunt might know. I know kale, tomatoes, and broccoli grow well here for sure. We have a lot of others like squash and cucumbers too. But i also know we have a lot of pest...
Ugh kego stage is absolutely the hardest to care for ngl. It takes ages to move them with a soft paint brush and im planing to do several hundred at a time of each different type. Its worth it but exhausting. Only once they get to about 3/4s in length do i have issues with possible viruses and...
In starting silkworm colonies again. Which means, 6 months to a year of line breeding and adding new blood to line breed again for superior genetics. I look forward to it. There will be worms that wont make the cut. Worms that are fed off. Worms that get dried for chicken feed. I am excited. Ive...
I've had a really hard time finding dandelion recently, lots of prickly lettuce and a couple other look a likes that aren't as beneficial or have hallucinogenic properties. You are so lucky to had plaintan weed! My tortoise loves it but I can't find it here so frustrating.
I have rose gonna...
So since my insects will be rather large (plans for 8 colonies of roaches alone with the addition of other feeders too) I know how much a strong colony of roaches can power through fresh greens and fruits. I have an orange tree, Mandarin orange tree, and mulberry tree, plus we buy a lot of...
Mine are growing at an immense speed. Think I've had the group for 2 months and I have 500 worms+ far too many for their current container as they grow so I'm just debating on enclosures now I guess
How do you end up separating them for new container movement? Do you sift them or pick them out? I haven't found a sifting mechanism that works yet >3> and picking out hundreds of worms by hand is insane. But I've done worse sadly.
My bedding is homemade insect gutload, rolled oats, and a few...
So I was cleaning a bit of the shed skin and some of dead beetles off the mealworms. I don't do a lot just some, but I was shifting through the oatmeal to see how the babies were doing and I am like O.O crap. I will need to move them to a new bin by the next egg laying boom.
I'm hesitating...
There are some that have to have substrate from what I've noticed. Dubia seem fine without it, flourish without it in fact. But eublaberus species and high humidity species can often crash without it.
Yeah thats what i was thinking and im not sure if its better if they need substrate or dont? 100% in it for the long haul. The colonies you sent are doing great, the mealworm colony has tons of babies everywhere. The ivories are molting left and right. Hissers are showing signs of getting...
Im looking into raising roaches for feeders that people who dont like handling roaches/cant handle them or who dont like them but take one for their cham, and was wondering if anyone had a preference?
There was no calcification just algae build up. Once cleaned it misted fine. It happens. But i use tap water because i either have to buy large amounts of RO which i go through a minimum of a gallon every 2 days if not more. Since i cannot put in a filter due to renting. I would rather clean...
was able to get the cap off and screen clean, letting it soak in some vinegar and water solution before I rinse and brush the last bit of crud off and test it again <3 I will let everyone know how it goes. Thanks so much @Jevin
