Everything's gotta eat right? And i would rather raise my own, give it an amazing life and know what goes into the insect and then feed a few off for the health of the colony to avoid regular over burden
Thank you so much @jamest0o0 i am so in love with my new little gems. They were such a nice thing to open up today and fuss over. Every has been spoiled with a heavy misting and some squash and sweet potato. Gut load is being made tomorrow.
So ive been super busy lately! Working (walking dogs for 8-10 miles on average a day), writing, taking care of animals, but ALSO prepping for insects. Im cleaning things, patching bins, making gutload, and have now made my favorite soil mix which is insanely versatile for a LOT of species and...
I think i ended up spoiling him with keeping him outside 24/7 the first few years of his life (except one to two months out of the year), when i first got him. Because his entire personality changes when he's inside too long. Its incredibly hard to get him to eat consistently.
This is an overall health report as a good thing. Neptune is at senior age this year and he's always been a problem chameleon when it comes to eating. He likes being outdoors and is regularly spoiled with it until these last two years because of weather and fires. Well we have been lucky with...
Yes orange head adults are large and should only really be fed to larger species. I wouldn't feed them to a panther or veiled unless you get a really really good chewer. Especially cause orange heads will bite if left alone in a cage for too long (one of the few roaches that do after a shorter...
Silkworms dont have to be shipped overnight depending on temps and ventilation. At least not from my experience. If its high temps or too low of temps of course its overnight. Some temps i dont even ship in and require a wait period. Wont even place them in a temp controlled truck for something...
Ivories, orange heads, or discoids might be a good choice.
Orange heads require a higher protein content which can be attained with vegetation but if its not reached correctly they will cannibalize. However they are bright colors, softer bodied and chunky.
Ah lol, and im about to start silkworms again. Line breeding and everything. One of my fav feeders to work with because of their pliable genetics. See you guys in a few months! (I will be selling super small scale though but maybe can help here and there for those who need some) does anyone see...
Dry gutload/chow which my roaches and worms usually get like a 1/8 of a cup every few days. Its safe for them to eat every day and an eighth of a cup usually runs out around then. Usually high humidity species get a teaspoon to tablespoon a day
Alfalfa
Bee pollen
Flax meal
Sunflower meal...
Thats the one i thought you meant. I usually avoid using that plant in general due to the braiding of its trunk if found in normal stores since they are sold as bonsais usually but if you dont buy them as such i think they get rather..... massive? But otherwise their soil requirements are...
Gimme the scientific name since there are like two species that fall under it and i think one part of the world calls one type of plant that and no one else does.
Actually hibiscus do really well outdoors here potted as long as they are larger pots so i usually rely on them with some fake vines and an umbrella plant in the shadier part of the cage. Thankfully Neptune is not a big 'eat green stuff'guy. He occasionally likes hibiscus flowers but even thats...
