I love that! I’ve posted the husbandry form below, just copy and paste the form in your reply, and fill it in! Of course we need a baby chameleon picture tax, and a pic of his entire enclosure (lights to bottom), would be greatly appreciated, as well!
Are you measuring his basking area with a...
Congrats, and welcome to the chamily! Everyone’s got you covered, but I do want to ask if he’s gaping only under the heat lamp, and if he’s gaped since you moved it higher? Like already mentioned, a husbandry review never hurts, plus we’d love to see the little bugger and his cage! Let us know...
You’ll want to make sure the basking branch is at least 9”+ away from the heat bulb to help prevent burns. Window sounds good! If possible, you can drop the nighttime temps even lower, 15-18*C is preferred. A real easy way to drop humidity for your set up is taking the plastic wrapping off one...
No problem, we’re here to help! You’ll want to move either the top branch and/or the uvb fixture so that the distance from uvb bulb to branch is 8-9” away. How far away is his heat bulb from his basking branch? As long as his cage isn’t next to the window (and that the window doesn’t make your...
Cage Type - 2x2x4 mesh cage but I’ve wrapped 3 sides with plastic Great! Bamboo poles are very slippery and are only one size in diameter, so they need to be replaced with wood branches (oak, manzanita, crepe myrtle, hardwoods/branches from non-toxic and non-sap-producing trees, etc) of varying...
Aww, I love that they’re getting along! And while fierce (those darn leaves 🤣, squirrels, neighbors, and delivery people won’t get away with anything), they’re so cute! Spike is definitely in good hands! Give them each a treat and/or pet from me!
This the other option if you can’t get Arcadia/if this is available near you

So that is a T8 bulb with no reflector, which sadly doesn’t do much, if anything at all, especially with a 5.0 bulb
This is what you want to get, either from this link or if you can find it near you/another website that can get it to you quicker...
Awesome! Do you know the age (if you do, @Beman can give you a feeding schedule to stick to, as I only know adult veiled feeding schedules)? Where are you getting him, if you don’t mind me asking? Sadly not all sources are reputable, so you want to get a cham from one that is so you start out...
@MissSkittles covered everything! I will add that you want to make sure the mistings are at least 2 minutes long, not 1-2 minutes. Also, are his branches bamboo? If you wouldn’t mind filling out the second half of the husbandry form and adding a pic of him, we’d greatly appreciate it!
Sounds good! Where do you live? A member on here might know of an experienced chameleon vet near you! If you could add pics of his enclosure, lights to bottom, in the morning, that’d be great, too! Just copy and paste the form, then fill it in (use as much detail as possible):
Chameleon Info...
Welcome to the forums! Do you have a reptile vet you can take his poop to to get tested for parasites? Smelly poop can be a sign of parasites. Could you post a pic of his poop, and of him, please? If you want, we can go over your husbandry, as well, to double check everything!
I don’t know much, but a great place to start is Leopard Gecko on YouTube! https://youtube.com/@leopardgeckotalk?si=T1j66QAf4lZBhmWc
I know leopard geckos are sensitive to bright light, so maybe that might be what’s going on? Good luck, and keep us updated, s/he’s adorable!
Welcome on here, and congrats! Do you have your veiled yet or no? Also, what is the gender (their care slightly differs based on gender)? Here are some helpful links to read through if you haven’t already!
