Thanks - that's very sweet of you to say! I'm going to try my hand with the black pond foam, only to hide zip ties. I have some updated lighting & have amassed quite a few nice plants between the 2 temp cages that will be transferred to the permanent ones. Lots of bromeliads, prayer plants...
Butterworms are irradiated when they are imported & this can cause a "bruising" like reaction that can be permanent for some chameleons. It is an autoimmune response to the radiation. They should be used as a treat & with caution! https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/butter-worms.139053/
It's going to be a little while before I can get it set up the way I want! I am in the process of building a bunch of Ikea furniture (almost done), but start back to school on Monday...will work on those cages as I have time. These are the final cages so I want them perfect!
Only the largest crickets make noise. I get my crickets from Ghann's and there is no noise at all - even with the largest ones. Variety is KEY in feeding a chameleon: crickets, dubia (and/or other types of roaches), silk worms, horn worms, BFSL, spikes, etc are all needed in varying amounts to...
Crested geckos don't need that much humidity - if you have them in the typical glass enclosure with mesh top, just give a good mist at night & they are good. If you have a particularly arid environment, add some live moss sponge at the bottom & mist that once during the day, mist the enclosure...
4' x 2' x2' = 120 gallons min. If you use an aquarium, then you need to mount the uvb (36" t5 ho linear 12% Arcadia or 10 reptisun) inside the mesh top with a reflector. Heat bulb can be outside. Aquariums are not recommended since front opening doors are preferred
I read about fountains being recommended on a untrustworthy Facebook group. Most of their info was dubious. From a medical perspective, it didn't make sense to me so I left that group & found this forum.
Crested geckos are beautiful and easy to keep/breed...they come in all colors/patterns under the sun. They are very flighty and do not tolerate handling well.
There is a great bearded dragon group on Facebook called bearded dragon network that has files on everything you need to know. Having owned a BD for less than 6 months, I dont feel that I'm the best person to mentor anyone.
I'm asking a serious question here - no rude intent...is English your 1st language? I'm having trouble understanding that question/statement. Are you saying you are trying to get general information then decide? If so, then you might want to reword your thread and take down the poll because the...
You shouldn't "catch on quickly" - you should be doing research prior to getting any new animal and making sure you can provide the best life for them for their entire life. To that end, you need to ask yourself what you want out of another animal in terms of personality, lifestyle, and...

Well, I'll jump in and "bite". I'm a new chameleon keeper. I've had other reptiles, but these are my 1st 2 chams. I totally agree with finding a breeder that you trust and going with what they tell you. I also would add that chameleons should not be impulse buys - ideally you should spend at...
I have 2 screen cages now that I've been using as temp cages. 1 is a cheap one & it shows! That will go in the trash. I did what many do - plants on the ground, some on the sides using a frame. The 2nd is a DS screen cage that will become an outside cage during nice weather. LOVE the dragon...
A substrate tray has a solid bottom, so nothing would drain into the drainage tray. You could put holes into the drainage tray, but if they fit it seems redundant. Are you going bioactive? That is one way to get the humidity up. Another is to add more live plants &/or cover the sides (3 out of...
