Yes as cool as those look they are NOT for chams. Moss needs a wet surface to grow and cham enclosures need to dry out between mistings. surfaces that stay wet can cause skin issues and harbors bacteria.

Yeah moisture and standing water will kill hornworms and can harbor bacteria, needs to be dark dry well ventilated and I use repashy hornworm food and successfully keep hornworms for weeks . I slow there growth by every other day putting them in a 50 to 55°F fridge

So those guns only measure the spot itself, you need something that reads ambient temp[which is the air] which is why I suggested a thermometer with the probes or even the govee digitals are known to be very reliable...

You really need to be taking the measurements with the correct tools [solar meter/ hydrometer/temperature gauge preferably ones with probes as they are more accurate]
