I have posed this question before in reference to nutritional value. Do different roaches have different nutritional values? The conclusion was a bit unclear. However in further findings I am seeing differences that could matter and suggest possible differences at least in trace elements. I...
You want humidity at night, but it needs to dry out during the day. 2 longer periods of 3-5 minutes 1 in morning and one evening. Many take a minute or so before they drink.
Not sure of the question, but a mister is a good investment. Like mentioned mistaking is best, but the others are fine and should easily last a day. Hydration is a big one so it is worth the investment.
My site www.caskabove.com has great beginners info and advice.
If I were to guess it is dehydration. I would keep it around 73 cooler at night and 100% humidity. At that size I am afraid there’s not much you can do. Pretty small to try and force feed. Hope is he will hydrate enough to come back. I would stick to fruit flies and make sure they are...
Don’t worry about heat so much. They do just fine in cooler temps for short periods. Low 70 high 60s is no problem for a few days or so. We had power outage last year and 7 babies and 2 adults never got above 65 to 70 for 10 days. Not suggesting this but it gives an idea
That temp reading in the pick said 90f. You are cooking them! Don't go above 80 at the highest, low 70s ambient. I am not trying to be mean but what you have set up is a cham killer. Follow the advice you have been given and they can be OK. Decrease temp. UVB at this stage is critical as the...
Are you by any chance in high school? Are you lucky enough too have a shop teacher or class available. If so and wanted to build a large custom enclosure for cheap, Teachers love to hep kids learn. If you had such a person and shop I bet if you asked the teacher would be willing to help, even...
The standard measurements and distance for basking is based on a 24 in bulb. But the distance from uvb will be same, but you will not have the spread and will want to be aware of this with a shorter bulb. Picture the light coming from the ends of the bulb in an oval. The ends do not produce...
It is just a bath so it only has water if some one is in it. At the beginning she explored more and would slip into the tub. I would leave a branch back up to her area. So when she would try to walk on the slippery tub surface she would slip down and end up where she started. She does not do it...
As mentioned you want to use incandescent or halogen . Wattage just depends, the minimum it takes to hit 80 to 82 I would say.
The trick is they will go to the brightest area to bask, not necessarily the warmest.
Just for reference. My male went through a bad injury and lost his tongue completely. When it happened I did not even try to feed for 3 weeks. This was long but the injury required it. After that he go bugjuce only about 1/4 teaspoon once a week. His gular crest was ripped open is why so...
For my two cents, force feeding 3 three times a day makes no sense. This would create a great deal of stress. Assuming healthy to start I would not feed for a week and then only 2 or three times a week. They don’t need to eat 3 times a day. It makes no sense.
I don't talk about it much so I don't give people the wrong Idea. But my free range mail acts nothing like a Veiled. Pick him up as you please, he doesn't mind. At least 2 times a day he comes over to my desk while I work. He is very curious and will come to see what is going on. He also...
The cage is fine. With all screen sides it’s fine, a fan would solve any ventilation. It is still smaller than I would suggest. The trick is going to be mounting the lights. I am sure it can be done, but that is a nice cage so I would not want to mess it up. It looks like 24in round frame...
Don't give up. It sounds worse than it is. Where as there are upgrades that need to be made there are only a couple that are right now issues. Primarily a proper UVB. The rest can be handled fairly inexpensively. Though not perfect the cage with a proper light is ok for now. Branches can be...
Yes I have a solarmeter that is one tricky as I have to keep track. It has the 48in 12% over the main and a MV bulb that covers the outer edge and basking. But valid point as I do adjust his branches and lighting.
