Hibiscus require more direct light than bromeliads in order to flower.
Missus' is putting out a bloom every month or so (they get fed to the beardie & tortoise) under a 36W Sansi flood.
It takes 3-4 T5 tubes to put out the equivalent of a Sansi 70W. I ran this calculation some time ago...
I think you may have misunderstood. I was responding to your remark about JD prices.
Sansi makes LED grow lights. I compared them to JD when I first set up—partly because JD didn't make a 48". I've not been disappointed; they're all-white (better for lizard eyes?) and the plants love them...
This one's from the mid-60s, but I like the old cheesy B&W sci-fi flicks from the 50s.
For this one, they needed/wanted a name, so they dug up Basil Rathbone & propped him up for a couple scenes (2 yrs. before he passed).
John Agar (Shirley Temple's first husband) also made (produced & starred)...
IDK that you'd need several times during the day. I set mine up in 2 phases:
Mist (via manual override) until water starts to run down the drain. (2 min.)
This gets more than enough water on the plants without significant waste.
Time how long it takes to dry out completely so as not to...
I was wondering if they weren't phorid flies. Larvae can look like tiny grains of rice.
I got those in my roach bin once when things got too moist/wet.
Solution was to dry things out; replace egg cartons and clean out any frass.
Maybe ventilate the bin a little better.
+1. I used to pick them out of the bin with a tweezer forceps, but lately it's easier just to grab them and toss them in the feeder bowls.
A few have escaped into the enclosures, but they've been found hiding in dark places (as one would expect)—under a rock, in a crevice, etc. Only a couple...
Short answer: In the rainforests.
To what purpose? Lots of threads in the archives.

If it's any consolation, even a Solarmeter should eventually pay for itself (or a sizable chunk) eventually; the more reptiles (UVB bulbs) one has, the faster & greater the payback.
How long is the UVB?
https://www.reptilebasics.com/t5-light-fixtures/t5-ho-single-bulb-light-strip-24/ ~$35
https://www.sansiled.com/products/70w-led-grow-light ~$57 (minus coupon)
That's less than $100
What am I missing?
I think the operative word there is 'eventually'. There are a lot of things that will happen (e.g. loss of variegation) before they're hopeless, and even then they can usually be brought back.
As much as other Pothos.
If you read a couple/few of these, you should get a good feel and confidence.

They all need similar conditions.
There must be a lot of reptiles shipped to our area, because the FedEx people seem to know exactly what's going on; they always ask what's in the box.
They don't get as excited about snakes (no offense to snake folk—it's just their reaction), but when we told them baby chameleon or baby...
