Oh, if only mine would eat from a food cup lol. He refuses unless I physically hold it and it has to be a clear container. I tried a feeder cup and he just refuses to eat, so I free range his prey. However I do get to see more natural behaviour from him as a result.
Honestly, mine never explores the floor, although he could. He sometimes camps out near the bottom, watching the floor, I'm assuming to try to nab a isopod. But typically he spends the majority of his time near the top level, sleeps midway and defecates in the bottom. He has a designated...
From personal experience in using wood to build an enclosure make sure whatever you use to seal will stand up to the test of time and extended exposure to water. Of course it depends on the climate you live in as well. If humidity is able to be maintained easily it's less of an issue. I live in...
I'm confused as with the pur filter, which is similar to a Brita if I remember correctly, it is safe for a human. But yes the water from the RO buddie system is safe for human consumption to my knowledge.
Honestly depends on the setup, I have mine setup so the drainage layer is constantly draining. The soil keeps moist enough that it hasn't had any issues so far and humidity wise, the enclosure is pretty much self sufficient. Mine is still a young setup, but if all goes according to plan, I...
Well, I just phoned and the RO buddie filter is way cheaper. At my local store for RO it's $1/gallon or $3.50/5 gallons. To replace the cartridges for the 50GPD RO buddie it's around $97 to replace all the cartridges and they last for around 1500 gallons so just the cost of filtering the water...
I have the same one! I would definitely recommend it! I have mine teed into the cold water supply for the washing machine as it's convenient and out of the way.
Well, I just had to post this as I was checking out my bioactive build, I got the best surprise ever! I have baby Dairy Cow Isopods! Everything has established itself for certain now! Sorry for the poor image quality, the little one was zooming!
Well I guess I should update this, the shed on his tail has dealt with itself naturally. He's doing really well actually. A bit skinny, but he went on a hunger strike when I first put him in the bioactive enclosure, he's eating again and gaining weight.
In all honesty, I've never tracked how long my beardie brumates for, I just let her do her thing. I offer food and water on the days she wakes up though. I'll track it this year though. She brumates starting in the fall and through the winter. Never in the middle of summer.
Yeah, in my experience, if the beardie is healthy, just let them sleep. They are may wake up for a day or two, but they usually sleep for a while. Mine is just entering brumation and is doing it gradually. She does move around a bit during her brumation period and occasionally comes out, but...
So after doing a lot of reading, I'm realizing just how lucky I got on purchasing my first car. Despite the issues, most have been caused by normal wear and tear. The engine itself though is perfect, so my first car should last until the body rusts away.
Well, I have finally found the root cause of my car troubles, also turns out to be the last of the gremlins from the previous owner. Essentially I get to clean out my engine, not hard to do thankfully. Finally have confirmation that my engine and turbo are fine mechanically.
Honestly I have a high limit on animals I can care for. Right now I take care of two animals solely by myself and assist heavily in the care of 8 other animals, and usually I'm the first to notice health concerns. This is while being a double major with a minor at school full time, helping out...
