Thanks for this thread. I’ve been wondering the same thing as I add to my colonies one bin at a time…my partner said the magic stop sentence yesterday “HOW MANY BINS ARE YOU PLANNING TO HAVE!?!” 😂 Safe to say 6 may be my “allowed to have before she freaks out” limited.
Dragons are low humidity animals from low moisture environments. Ideally humidity under 40…better under 30. Florida is high humidity, high moisture, and hot. The screened enclosures with high ventilation is why it works.
It’s all confusing. @Sonny13 post was impactful for me. I’ve been thinking for a while that ventilation is key.
I watched a YouTube video about a beardie breeder in Florida that only uses outdoor enclosures. Blew my mind! My first thought was how aren’t these babies dying from RI. They talked a...
I’ve been thinking about this, trying to understand it. We mist and create humidity with temps in the 70’s but we shouldn’t fog with temps above 67? I understand they are different modes of creating moisture…I’m not sure how to word this because the subject is confusing…but either way the air is...
So true! I run a large fan as well. Mainly to help get the temps down at night in my hotter reptile/fish/my office room. My other enclosure is in a room with windows in the perfect spots to send a nice breeze through. I figured the flow would help prevent stagnant air.
Yes, this makes perfect sense. Our attempts to mimic nature will rarely be parallel...and at times cause more problems than they fix. I'm a solution finder by nature (and training as a designer lol) I'm always open to questioning where we are and where we should be. I'm been considering getting...
One system is brand new, has been running for a week, I cleaned tubes before setup. The other has been up for two months. There's no clear way to know for sure. It's not a sterile environment so bacteria is living in the air, on the surfaces, etc...but if the fogger is aiding in their transport...
oh man...I don't want to act rashly but that article was convincing. I immediately took my foggers offline and added 1 min mist cycles every 2 to 3 hours to help with keeping my humidity up throughout the night. The fogger is amazing for this, but not at the risk of their little lungs. Thank you...
It seems like he already took them to the vet, the vet DXed pre-existing MBD, gave a treatment plan that the person was following, and the cham was just on its last days. It seemed like they were on the forums trying to understand what else could be done.
That's the part of the attack that...
I was going to reply and say this same thing to @kinyonga. I totally understand being frustrated but this thread made me grateful for the compassion the forums seem to have now. I couldn’t imagine being that person asking for help and getting met with the replies they received.
