Hey everyone,
My chameleon Ezekiel passed 2 months ago in October, but since then it has been bugging me to make a post here.
I got Ezekiel from a reptile convention after a year of planning to cope with a bad hospital experience. My family was ready for a reptile and we had the time...
Looks like he passed a moment ago I’m pretty sure. I kept on a low temp heating pad until he could finally pass. - his tongue was sticking out and he was struggling for air. He died with me watching over him and with good vet care. Thank you all for your time.
Hey there.
I recently posted. - my chameleon is currently on 3 medications (fourth is supposed to be prescribed tomorrow.) found him this evening on his side when I went in to administer medication.
He is sticking his tongue out from time to time. What does this mean? I’m pretty sure he is...
That’s a relief to hear that your chameleon has recovered. I hope mine does the same. He’s been on the side of his cage screen climbing with his eyes closed all day, just chilling in one spot
I am only using allopurinol for life. Everything else is for two weeks until he starts to poo.
Vets have not been able to determine the exact cause but they suspect it was a genetic issue or something he had when he was growing.
He was prescribed Slippery elm and oxbow carnivore care for two weeks to increase his diet and hydration to see if he can poo by Wednesday. He was also prescribed allopurinol which he will take for life.
Ezekiel went in yesterday for an overnight emergency stay. He had a long day of X rays and blood work, but we have found out that he was on the verge of death from a kidney issue. He wasn’t able to use the bathroom and still isn’t.
We didn’t think he’d survive last night, but with good vets...
There is a basking bulb and linear uvb in there
I also feed him gut loaded crickets every couple of days and horn worms once in awhile
Basking temp is 81.5 and sits in-front of the window.
Second picture is from a year ago, i assume is he is male due to the spurs on his feet
Hey.
My chameleon was making a lot of noise recently. I went to figure out what he was doing. And he was tearing up the newspaper at the bottom? I can’t quite figure out why. Other than this he’s healthy according to my vet!!
I use a 75 watt Arcadia bulb at the top. - I also have the t5, but I thought that the sun would replace the linear. But I will get that set back up.
I am working on his enclosure, so plants will arrive shortly :-)
He’s had thermal burns in the past that have been treated by the vet and he was prescribed the cream shown. I applied that onto his back to potentially help him. - wondering if this might be more thermal burns or possibly just a result of the past burns.
Hey.
I provided pictures of everything. His lamp is about a foot and an inch away from his basking branch, his basking branch is 83 degrees.
His cage is also infront of a window.
Hey there. My veiled chameleon is about 2 years old now. He had a burn on his back and his crest which was treated by the vet. His recent shed has caused some stuck shed around his back. I upped the humidity and a lot of it came off. But what I noticed was a single spike on his back had started...
