I dont know why reptile products are so expensive. I assume it's because usually one company has the only product so they up the prices. Its the same with enclosures.. in my ooinion it shouldnt cost nearly 1,000 for a decent enclosure. This is why reptiles are always so poorly cared for.
But...
Yea it was night time when i received it, so i just immediately assumed it wasnt working. Which wasnt a great assumption. I was upset i spent so much money and it didnt work lol. 🤣
Also had no idea about the strips!! Thanks!! 😁
So I recently purchased a Solar Meter and used it for my chameleon cage. I have brand new Arcadia 6% (2 months old) uvb lighting that runs diagonally of Shenron's enclosure. I purchased my fixture and bulb from lllreptile. I was super excited to finally get my solar meter and opened it right...
If the light you are using is the duo dome with the coil uvb in the pic, you will need to get a linear t5 HO uvb. The coil uvb bulb isnt strong enought to give your cham the uvb they need. Reptisun and arcadia are both great options!
Very beautiful cham you have!
Im just going to be honest with you, everything in your set up is wrong to include the supplements. I would estimate the total cost to fix everything is going to be well over 300-500. You need a bigger enclosure, correct lighting, basking bulb and fixtures, and new supplements, new food...
I must be the lucky one. My 1 year old sleeps great AND sleeps in! 🤣🤣 When my daughter was a baby however, she woke up like 4-5 times every night for YEARS!! She was about 4 when it finally stopped. It was awful.
I have heard that episode! Bill often talks about "breaking the rules" to husbandry. Ive heard of reptile practices in the 90s from long time hobbyist... and wow! I will say the reptile hobby has come a long way!
Yea for sure, I think even these forums people get too caught up in their way of doing things is the only way and the right way. Many people have different approaches to their care and i think it's neat, especially those that free range! I dont agree with the water thing tho given that chams are...
I agree with you here! I never go into something if I dont have the money to properly care for them.
I also do the same for my fish. Smaller aquariums for smaller fish so they can grow with others their size and then upgrade!
I dont see anything that immediately stands out in your husbandry that hasnt already been mentioned.
It does take some time for them to adjust and establish a routine. I dont think its anything to worry, just keep an eye out for any other symptoms.
Thats extremely small!! 😱 I have a baby crested gecko in a size that small, and its literally only being used for a few months until he gets bigger so I can monitor his growth without losing him in his enclosure and make sure he can find food. I cant imagine keeping my cham in that. ☹☹ I dont...
Unfortunately, theres a lot going on in your post that are red flags to me. Your cham is not in a proper enclosure, not being provided the vitamins it needs, not being provided correct lighting, not being fed a correctly, amongst a plethora of other things. This is a tough situation, because i...
