The only distribution map I've ever seen, which is quite old, simply states gracilior occurs in the area of the two mountains I mentioned above.
Where's Chris Anderson when you need him?:D
He is also for sale? I must ask, what is the latent animal for sale that the "also" implies? Could you please give us more details on the others you've found? It'd be nice to connect with the person with the gracilior pair and to be able to avoid the crossed clutch. Thanks for looking out.
Are you Referring to Mt. Oku and Mt. Lefo localities? That happens to be the names of my gracilior males. The long-horned male is Lefo and the orange-headed male is Oku. If that is the case, I'd love to hear what characteristics are associated with which locality.
I'm aware that quad quads could have up to six or even eight horns but I don't remember ever hearing anything about length which is why I was interested in what others have experienced. Definitely not a definitive characteristic, just another possible checkpoint. As for crossing the two, you're...
He's awesome. His horns also look as long as the non orange-headed male I posted a picture of at the top of the second page of this thread which are for sure some of the longest horns I've ever seen on a quad. Have you or anyone else ever seen horns this long on a quad quad or could this be...
Gorgeous. Sorry to hear he's no longer with us. I'd love to have seen what he looked like when he was fired up. He looks rather relaxed and still has all that orange on his head. It's interesting to see the variation in male gracilior's coloring on the sides of their heads. Just in this thread...
Careful. They can get stuck in your craw. I've had them and especially graciliors(since the first time I laid eyes on an orange headed male) stuck in mine for over 15 years now. Anyone else remember the old Reptile Specialties logo? They are montanes, thanks for covering that Janet. Sorry the...
They usually have many more specimens than on display so they can rotate them out. I also know the zoo here has supported the Lacey act and possibly to the extreme that no exotic animals should be owned by private individuals. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was one of the early cases taken on...
Wow. She's gorgeous. It's looking like there's four pairs of gracilior accounted for. Four males, four females. Not including the two clutches we know about and the two hopefully on the way. Any one else out there? I'd love to be proven wrong on this.
Apparently just one more thing lost to antiquity. The true meaning of 24/7.:D high temps sound good. Try to get at least a 10 deg. drop at night(with no light) and if you want at more thorough critique fill out the how to ask for help sticky in the health clinic forum. Good luck!
Thanks for participating everyone!
Laurie, we need pics from the collective. I'm especially interested in the gracilior female you speak of. If anyone can pull those strings, it's you.
This is Tank. He's my WC quad quad male from the Dec. import. He's a big ol' boy that got his name from...
Very nice blues and blush. Definately quad quad as well as Tylene's. Thanks for contributing. I'm hoping for a good cross-section of both subspecies so we can compare the differences and variations to see what's out there. Here's my other gracilior male that came in on the Dec. import.
Looking good Tylene. Of course, possibly being one of the de facto godmothers of quads, it's not surprising. Thanks for your part in keeping the flame burning in their imported absence and supplying us with exceptional babies. I know you've seen this pic, but for everyone else, here's my quad...
