Another clutch of my T. cristatus eggs started hatching today. Here's the first hatchling to come out.

It's a black widow. I got a bottle of spider killer at Wal-Mart yesterday and sprayed it down pretty good. I'm not all that bothered by spiders, but I'm not thrilled about the idea of a bunch of baby black widows hatching right outside my front door.

The females don't seem to be too bothered about you getting close to them. Although when I have seen them change color, they didn't have spots. They get dark and stripey like this.

Her mother is so calm and mellow that I thought I should have named her that instead since she's cool as a cucumber, but I had already given her a name, so I decided to use it for her daughter.
