Not that your idea isn't good but you could also wrap the outside of the full throttle ones in cork bark to make them look more natural and then not worry about the bugs climbing.

I think people like they just because they are different. Since veiled colors and patterns are similar from one to the next they just like the change. Not sure but for me I don't like the translucent color much but they are still chams and are awesome to the OP so congrats!
I'll let @Brodybreaux25 handle the advice but the vet telling you to out it in the water doesn't make any sense. Usually you need to give the cham the drops directly. Your lighting, gutload and dusting should be enough to have avoided this to begin with but now you you will have some work ahead...
