That little bump, that you can see really well in the first pic, is called a spur. Males Veileds are born with them making them pretty easy to sex right out of the egg if you know what to look for. Females don't have spurs.

She will shed often when young and she will do it less often as she gets older and growing slows down. When she is an adult she will shed in patches.

I think its unnecessary to take the heads off of super worms. I would also limit the number of wax and butter worms you feed. The more variety you feed the better.

If the bulbs blowing up then it is probably being hit with water.

The hood will hold in a lot of heat which would cause the bulbs life to shorten.
