No, I don't think it's a bad idea - don't get me wrong... it's just my own personal worry :) As long as you know how to take care of them and learn all you can about the type of cham you want (best case is that you have it all set up for them before you get them) - I'm sure you will be great!
I didn't raise O from a baby - babies are adorable but they freak me out, they seem so fragile! O was 4-5 months when I got her. Have you checked these out?

Ophelia has certainly been very forgiving of my mistakes and learning curves! I love veileds - eventhough there are chams that are more colorful or more rare or more interesting. She fits me, I guess. Simple. Choose one that fits your abilities and the time/money you have to put towards keeping it.
Orange Heads.
Only because someone can't remember who (was it @jamest0o0 ??) convinced me to keep the 2 OH that I ordered by accident and told me I should start another colony. Now I have 2 OH females and no men in their life. It's sad.
I can't hunt for the other post, so I'm sorry if my questions are a repeat of what was covered- he was eating, then he moved to a new cage and now eats 1 a day? Is that right?
Do you weigh him regularly (1x a week or 2x a month)?
the move might have caused him to stress a bit and that could...
I get ur humor :) I like the idea that my efforts are somehow more meaningful than just basic instinct brain. So im sticking with Matt... ur not my favorite anymore ;):p
You're welcome :) my light in my room is the fan light in the center ceiling - so when a kid turns it on, I'm like - turn that off, Ophelia is sleeping! They tease me that she is my favorite child lol, if it's a small night light lamp, then it might not be a big deal. Sometimes, O will be facing...
Babies are adorable - definitely not trying to talk you out of them :) sounds like @jannb could hook you up!
I can speak a little about growing them slowly - and I learned from @kinyonga so hopefully I reference her correctly - when I first got O, she was probably 4-5 months old and I was...
I have heard very good things about @Matt Vanilla Gorilla and if (probably when) I'm ready for a second cham, he will be the first person I reach out to. I'm not trying to talk you out of a juvenile, but an established (older) cham might be a good place to start, especially if you are new. Just...
I am saving for a new enclosure for her. I think (her personality) needs a larger home - somewhere to get lost. I wish I could turn my entire backyard into a space for her!
I'm so sorry that you have had your heart broken - I agree with your statement about Petco. Have you considered reaching out to a breeder on this forum for your next one?
I think the general consensus is that chams do not need a night light (so no red/blue light at night) and that having one can disturb their sleep. Ophelia is in my room and once the timer turns her lights out at 7:30pm, I am very careful to not turn the light on in my room. I noticed that if one...
