....I'm back!!! lol. Long time no posting, but I have to visit you all again for some advice.
because Norman's casque doesn't look straight, anymore. Limbs look good to me, just got his hydration managed again (thank you mist king!), appetite has improved lately. What's the casque thing...
Not sure if hatching was the right term, lol. But out of 250 BBF larvae, we've fed the worms for a while and once they turn black we generally just wait for the rest to become flies. Only it's not happening. Just wondering whatsupwidat? My soldier flies are still becoming flies. Sure...
I was shocked to hear this and started googling. I found no evidence that this happens, though one myth buster reports they think the myth was started in wikipedia where someone reported an abandoned beehive filled with BSF. This would be more realistic since they are great clean up crews!
I've had the occasional one escape, they die quickly, the flies. I don't think they have much of a life span. They breed and lay eggs in compost type stuff, so they'd be looking to get outdoors.
I would be, but I'm not sure how talented my guy is...He aims too carefully, and lets the drop get away before he gets an opportunity to shoot. You can see the poor guy with tongue at the ready, but he never gets a shot off because the drop falls and he has to restart the aiming process (with...
Agree with all the info about minimal handling of your chameleon. I'm pretty new at this too, and understanding there are times you might eventually have to be able to remove him for cleaning I will tell you how I came to be able to handle my aggressive veiled:
First, I did very little with...
I fill the dripper with about 5-8 oz at a time, and run it so it drips about once a second. I've also tried faster and slower, but if he seems interested he's too slow to catch the drips. ir's so frustrating as he could just go up to it and open his mouth, but goofy has to shoot his tongue at...
Will make all the adjustments you've all recommended, and thank you. Next order of business will be purchasing a mist king, as his current mister doesn't go past 45 seconds. The only thing that leaves me concerned is that I've tried repeating the cycle over and over so that he gets longer...
I have a setup where the water passes through the screen to the tray below. If I need to I may put a hole in it and drain into a bucket, but thus far the plants are absorbing a good bit and the drainage has been managed with just the tray.
How long do you suppose it would last? A day, a week, a couple days? I really appreciate all the responses, but I need more precise info lol. I have no clue how much the mist king uses in water, and I want my reservoir to be big enough, but not so big that there's standing water for days...
So Norman is being a problematic fellow with his hydration, and my next intervention is to upgrade his misting system to the MistKing, as the one I have only mists for 45 seconds at a time. Now I'm aware I'm going to have to up my drainage game with the increased water output, and was hoping...
I've found that this chameleon brings out the worrier in me, so I am hoping for reassurance. I've had him since June and other than our current frustrating issues with getting water in him, he seems healthy. If I were not doing enough, would his health have deteriorated by now? Is it safe to...
