The Yellow-lip Parson's are starting to hatch...

This morning (11/27) there were two more babies, and one head poking out. So, including the one that's not totally out of the egg, that makes 12 so far... Sam

    Sensational! Solid and strong-looking.

The Yellow-lip Parson's are starting to hatch...

Three more babies hatched today, so there are seven babies altogether at this point. The remaining eggs all look great, but are of various sizes--some dramatically different sizes, as I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago. Several are by far the biggest cham eggs I've ever seen.

The Yellow-lip Parson's are starting to hatch...

Quick update: All three Yellow-lips that hatched initially were in the same (top) incubation bin. There are two bins--one on top, one on the bottom, inside the incubator. Based on my personal experience with hatching various other cham species, once one hatches, it sure seems to signal the...

The Yellow-lip Parson's are starting to hatch...

Yes, she arrived to me gravid. It's a funny story actually... I love chams, that's no secret, and one of my vendors knows that. So, he was saying he had a trio of Yellow-lips and that one of the females was super plump and "potentially gravid." Now, I knew he was just trying to get me to buy...

The eggs were laid 577 days ago as of today, so just under 19 months.

The Yellow-lip Parson's are starting to hatch...

Thanks everyone, much appreciated (y) One of my employees is better at photography so I had her take a picture of one. I put together four baby cham cages from Dragon Strand and all three are camping out under the UVB bulbs currently.

The Yellow-lip Parson's are starting to hatch...

I checked on the Yellow-lip eggs about 20 minutes ago and saw a baby at the front-end of one of the bins. I looked over at my wife who was sitting in my office and as soon as our eyes met she asked, "Did they hatch?!" It seemed unreal--so many unknowns, operating on blind faith. So much tedious...

    Baby Melleri Madness!!

Yes, it was a confounding experience. I shipped one to a customer, then it died a few days later. His setup was fine, so I shipped a free replacement. That one died in a few days as well. So, rather than shipping again I just refunded the cham, stopped shipping them, and observed.

    Yellow-lip eggs incubation update

Action Jackson - Yes, with the incubator, if you adjust the temperature up or down, it can send it into a tailspin. By that I mean, it will seemingly randomly start warming (never cooling though) and won't stop until I intervene. The worst is if you adjust the "Hi/Lo" limits--most of the time it...

    Baby Melleri Madness!!

I didn't hatch them myself, I purchased them from someone who had hatched them out a couple weeks prior. I remember very distinctly calling one of my vendors who I talked to about chams a fair amount. Since I'd never had access to babies before, I was pretty excited. He was very pessimistic...

    Baby Melleri Madness!!

I had eight of them, and they seemed to be doing well and then just started dropping like flies after 2-3 weeks. I kept four chams per 16"x20" screened cage, and perhaps that was too many--maybe the stress gets to them more than other chams. I wasn't able to focus on them a whole lot. I had a...

    Yellow-lip eggs incubation update

Jeremy - Those with experience breeding parsonii were like turtles retreating into their shell when asked for advice. It's sad really. However, Garrett was extremely transparent and gave me the exact method he's used, so that's what I implemented (vermiculite). He had a great tip of covering the...

    Baby Melleri Madness!!

Congratulations, what a great event! Glad to see these babies--I wish you well with them. It happens far too infrequently. I found them to be one of the more difficult chams to raise from babies, so I'll be very interested to follow your progress/technique. Please do record for posterity. Sam

    Yellow-lip eggs incubation update

It's been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd provide a quick update on the 63 Yellow-lip Parson's eggs that were laid on April 23rd, 2015. I received my cooling/warming incubator a couple weeks later on May 12th, 2015, so they were room temp until then. At that point, I began following...

    Panther x Oustalet's hatching...

Hi there, Yes, I don't plan on offering them for sale to the general public but I'll part with some if they're going to responsible chameleon keepers from this forum. Sam

    Panther x Oustalet's hatching...

You're very welcome Jeremy, glad you could swing by. Thanks for lending me the Madagascar cham book too--I've enjoyed reading through it. I've lost two of the neonates, but other than that they seem to be doing well. I've separated them into three groups based upon their size. Sam

    Panther x Oustalet's hatching...

The little Panther x Oustalet's crosses have ravenous appetites. I had a cup of tiny dusted crickets, and sprinkled them into the enclosure. But, there was one cricket that snuck into the mix that was about 3/4" long. I thought I was going to have to grab it and put it in another cage so it...
