Hello everyone,
I managed to snap some photos of him in his enclosure. I just fed him some silkworms, and he seemed to need water pretty badly even though I gave him some yesterday. He is moving around right now which is good.
I have no clue what bulb/fixture he has for uvb, but my...
I agree with you 100%. I bug him about husbandry all the time. Sometimes he’ll go through with it, other times he does not. I’m going to have to speak with him about fostering the chameleon.
Thank you!
Thanks so much for the response. I will have to have a serious talk with my friend about taking the chameleon in.
It hurts to watch the chameleon like that, and have contemplated making this post on multiple occasions. Once I saw eyes closed I said enough is enough.
Hello,
I have a buddy with a male Jackson Xantholophus. He’s owned him for about a year now and was told he is 3ish years old, and he has been shedding for a very long time (talking weeks here). He has also recently started to close his eyes during the day. No sunken eyes. He does eat during...
Hello,
Humidity is very high right now in general from the constant rain. I am keeping my chameleons in the garage during the rainy months, and will bring them back outside when conditions are better. 50-65% RH during the day with 85%+ RH at night with a fogger. Ambient temperatures during the...
Good. He has continued to pass hydrated and normal poops and urates, twice since that post was made. I will look for the orange crystal-like BM’s in the future and see if they become an issue due to sluggish bowels, which jacksjill has mentioned can come from over supplementation. As for the...
Hello,
Decided to share a photo of my male. He’s got quite the set of horns in my opinion. His tail was VERY blue this day.
My female isn’t as photogenic yet. Hasn’t gotten her greens, but has nice blue cheeks.
Thanks!!
He already had the gular edema when I got him. I’ve had him for a few months, and did not supplement for the first week or two I owned him. I then gradually got him on a supplement schedule that I like to follow (Arcadia earthpro-A twice a week, and repashy Lo-D once a month). Previous owner’s...
Hello,
So I have been monitoring the males poop/urates and they have returned to looking hydrated
How can this be prevented other than being more hydrated?
Thanks
Hello,
My female Jackson has recently been climbing on the ceiling of the enclosure after lights out. Not really concerned, just more confused. She has done it three times this week, and other times she sleeps on her usual branch.
She could be trying to get closer to the fogging hose, but I...
I haven’t had any bites that I’m aware of. Here’s something I ripped from one of jacksjill’s posts “As a montane species (native to higher altitudes) Jackson's have decreased supplementation requirements compared to tropical species due to metabolism differences. Use calcium (without D3 or...
I will have to inspect it again later. It definitely looks like something didn’t go through well, or he just hasn’t gone poop in a while like you said.
Thanks!
Hello,
First off, my male Jackson’s chameleon’s gular edema has gone down significantly since I have gotten him. I did not supplement for the first week, and gradually got him on the normal Jackson’s sup schedule, calcium no d3 twice a week, and a repashy lo-d once a month. This shows what...
I use the betazooer from Amazon. Top fill, and holds a gallon of water. Also has double hose attachment.

What is your hydration schedule for your babies? I mist the parents at 5AM for 1:30, 5PM for 1:30, and 2AM for 2:00 using a mistking. I am also fogging at night now that they are indoors. I am not home from 8AM to 5PM on weekdays, but can hand mist all I want on weekends. Kind of a pain in the...
Hello,
As an owner who is expecting Jackson’s babies in a few months, I’m preparing in every single way possible. I have read time and time again that babies can drown from a single droplet of water on their nose.
I am going to be keeping them in individual 16 quart tubs positioned...
