Anyway, back to the build for the bioactive enclosure.
Here's a picture after the first layer of the silicone and the substrate. Did some more touch ups in some of the areas exposed in the picture.
Next I'll be adding moss.
The plants I chose to use I have used prior to this with no bad...
@hiddenflaws
Here's some photos of the background I made using the method that didn't work out too well. I finished this in the beginning of October 2019. The first three pics are the background then. The last two photos are how it's held up over time to the present. I still use it and it...
Oh that's sounds really competitive. haha thanks for schooling me.
What class was it that the Lion King movie was even relevant?
IMO I would just use the original. People swear behind GE Silicone 1 or aquarium silicone, which is usually clear, for this type of thing. If I remember correctly...
Good points skoram. OP had told me in a PM that she wished to get a panther chameleon if anyone is wondering. I didn't realize it wasn't mentioned on the thread I'm sorry for my negligence. This is why I suggested what I did. OP is in AZ which she disclosed publicly, but on another thread I...
YES! lol sorry I forgot about that. The reason I'm breeding them is to feed the young. Haven't fed the adults for fear of parasites, et cetera. With any wild caught feeders, it's suggested to breed them and feed the offspring since the parasites and such don't pass down.
YES PLEASE! I'll PM you
Agree with skoram. Mistkings are nice because you can set up to ten different timers on it. Some of the cheaper misting systems only give you duration and frequency. With the mistking you can set custom duration down to seconds and days of the week. Like I said with investing in the right cage...
That was my issue when my ankify decided he wanted to have a growth spurt. I took a cage that a friend was going to trash and rescreened it. Changed the screen door to plexiglass. Soon after, he said NOPE I'M GONNA GROW RIGHT NOW HA HA HA!
Anyway, I ended up getting reptibreeze deluxe 2x2x4 as...
This might be a bad suggestion, but you could always put him up to a mirror and see if he fires up and opens his mouth. Another option is to put some slight pressure on either side of where his top and bottom jaw connect and that will open his mouth. Make sure your hands are clean. The done this...
No problem. If you want some pics of my enclosures I'll send some pics. Just let me know.
In your downtime I highly suggest listening to the Chameleon Academy Podcast (previously the Chameleon Breeder Podcast). There's a wealth of information there that can help you learn a lot and sometimes...
I belive @Gingero doesn't use crickets at all for her panther and parsons.
All of the above are good suggestions. You may find it difficult to get your cham into dubia roaches. I've only had one chameleon that likes them out of many chams that I've owned.
Green banana roaches were a good...
Hey Lauren,
As someone mentioned on one of your other threads, your weather in AZ is going to be a battle for you. I highly suggest getting one of Dragon Strands Hybrid Enclosures. Bill, the owner, is a great and knowledgable guy and gives great customer service. These cages are also better...
@Ramrod I PM'd her some breeder suggestions including our site sponsors. If anyone is interested I can post it here. I don't want to start a debate over who's the best lol
I've never used chicken wire for my enclosures because I'm afraid of stray feeders escaping so I can't necessarily help you there. I can definitely tell you what readings without any mesh are if that helps. I would guess that the chicken wire has very little effect on the UVB. Just an idea, but...
You talking about chicken wire?
I highly suggest getting a solar meter if you can. They just under $200 on amazon. It’s a heavy hit to your wallet, but I promise it will pay for itself.
You’ll have solace knowing things are as perfect as possible. You won’t have to worry about over exposing...
I’ve bought from them before and not had issues. I might have been lucky. The thing is that they buy animals at whole sale prices. For example, someone who got rid of a bunch of babies having not known how to take care of them might have sold them to LLL. Also, someone might not have known what...
