That’s a female, and I’m worried about her tail, and the bruising on that front leg. Please fill out the how to ask for help questionnaire, lots to look over.
That enclosure is too small at his size already. He should be using at least the 36x18x36 Exo Terra if you really want to use it. The proper enclosure has twice the room as yours. Also, it appears there is very little access to the top 2/3rds. Please fill out the how to ask for help form...
As you can see, my ficus trees are robbing a ton of light, and are in need of pruning. Otherwise this enclosure is left untouched. It’s hard to see with the glare, but my substrate is full of tunnels from different bugs, and there is no standing water in my drainage layer.
I mist fairly heavily(depending on ambient humidity), and have never had water collection in my bioactive setup. I attribute this to appropriate soil, and HEAVY planting. My enclosure is coming in at 4 years now, and I’ve only had to prune plants, and clean bug guts off the glass. I’ve never...
Sorry to hear The East Bay Vivarium is giving out such poor advice. They used to breed a lot of what they sold. Sounds like they don’t breed their own veileds, if they did, they would give better advice. I bought all my reptiles from them exclusively for years, they are usually very helpful.
It actually looks like overwatering to me. It the leaves turn yellow(not dried), and fall off, that’s a good sign of over watering. It’s an easy fix, just transplant into a larger container with better draining soil. More light is also a good suggestion. My ficus tends to steal all the light...
I’ve kept my panther with a few anoles and a house gecko. They were in there together for a long time, but eventually, they went missing. They were originally purchased as prey items, so if he ate them, I’m not disappointed.
Yet another reason to go bioactive. I constantly have BSF, hornworm moths, and giant superworm beetles emerging out of nowhere. I do feed every other day or so, but I know he gets more nutrition through these tasty treats. It makes long vacations pretty stress free.
From what I’ve gathered, they are one of the most nutritious feeders available, they are so high in Ca, you don’t need to dust them. I have heard they can cause some constipation, though I’ve not seen it in my collection.
