    Bioactive drainage question

So you can drill the bottoms of exo terras? I was told it was tempered glass. Guess I’ll be moving my bulkhead to the bottom now!

    Bioactive drainage question

I understand the issue with output. I bought the tiny fluval 106. It has decent flow, but I’m going to mount it about 3 feet below the enclosure, that should slow it a little.

    Carpet Chameleon Setup

A thought I had (but haven’t tried), was to use small neodymium magnets. One, siliconed into the branch, the other on the outside of the glass. Should work well, especially with a smaller species.

    Bioactive drainage question

I think the need for a 10% or 12% over a 5 or 6% depends on the amount of plant cover/screening, and distance from the light source. Only way to tell is to measure with a Solarmeter. I use a 6% with a pretty heavy canopy layer, and I feel it is appropriate. I may eventually try a 12%, but...

    Bioactive drainage question

Once I have a few more things lined up, I’ll for sure post about this build.

Yes we did! This is a small step towards that ultimate goal.

    Bioactive drainage question

I’m actually building my dart tank with a recirculating waterfall feature. I’m way over filtering the water though. Using a canister filter meant for 4 times the volume, in-line UV sterilizer, not to mention the 5 inches of matala filter media in the tank to provide more beneficial bacteria...

NEW SETUP, WOULD LOVE ANY ADVICE

If you want true bioactive, you won’t get it without heavily modifying the bottom of your enclosure. What you have is a great idea, just won’t work for bioactivity. You could simply pull out the hydroballs and replace with organic soil. If you want true bioactivity, imagine making the entire...

Necropsy on my chameleon GRAPHIC PICTURES

I have no issue with dissection, novice or not. I’ve “dissected” hundreds of fish and animals I’ve taken for consumption. You will learn something every time. Is it difficult to do this to a pet? It would be for me. I don’t think it’s outside of normal though. Hell, I really enjoy the...

NEW SETUP, WOULD LOVE ANY ADVICE

Let’s see pics of your substrate tray(bottom of the enclosure). You may be restricted by depth, this would keep you from using the bioactive technique.

NEW SETUP, WOULD LOVE ANY ADVICE

If you could please take more pics of the substrate and the tray. What you are doing is not bioactive, hydroponic maybe. Oh, and what brand of light are you referring to?

    my charlie is a fighter

I feel the response from Brodybreaux25 was very appropriate. No need to sugar coat anything. Great advice given without any BS to go with it. Obviously the OP was looking for a response, and they got one. Kids have no idea how to listen to advice when it doesn’t coincide with their own...

    Is he burnt?

I don’t think it’s a burn. Burns are usually grey.

    Cage

You should show the care sheets to your dad. He obviously doesn’t understand how difficult these are to keep successfully. Better to educate him early, than get stuck fighting him later. I had similar issues with my old man too, he was a stubborn a-hole. Lol

*Somewhat Graphic*-Chameleon lung during necropsy displaying remarkably thin walls--blurred areas but not perfect

Would have been cool to see a dissection of one side of the ribs, then using an ETT, inflating the lungs. I’ve done this with both pig and rabbit specimens. Well, humans as well, but during a thoracotomy procedure due to traumatic events.

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Come on kid, you think that kind of reaction is ok? If you aren’t mature enough to act like a human on this forum, then you should not be caring for an animal, let alone one as difficult and humbling as a chameleon. Please adopt it to someone who knows how to take advice and care for it.
