@DartFrogKeeper Adding a 6.5K daylight or plant grow bulb will absolutely help! I have the dual UVB/6.5K daylight bulb fixtures from LightYourReptiles for my chameleons and my schefflera are thriving. I actually have to trim them on a weekly basis because their growth is getting out of hand...
Yeah, if he was some variant of an albino I would assume that abnormal coloration would have been a distinguishing feature right from hatching, so perhaps he’s just an intense high-orange then? Super cool nonetheless!
@jamest0o0 That IS super convenient! Perfect brumation temps and all that cheddar you saved on parsonii food. What's not to like? Haha. Good grief, he was munching on bees? That's gnarly! I wonder if they don't react to stings or their bite force is just so strong they obliterate the bee before...
@jamest0o0 Haha no need for an apology! I think it's super interesting to make growth comparisons between the parsonii locales, especially since ours are so close in age but have different rearing strategies! I know my guy was brumated last year before I received him, but I elected not to...
@Beman @jamest0o0 @timw1 @ChamChamChangeForMe Thanks for all the sweet comments, guys! I used to stray away from females because I didn't think they were as impressive looking as males, and worried about potential health issues like egg binding, but this girl has definitely proven me wrong and...
@NorCalAnthony @shawn_melanson @Bammer @alligatorboym360 Been a hot second since this thread has had an update! How are all your parsonii doing from Garrett's '17 clutch? Boris had a pretty slow growing period this winter and is just now getting back into form. He's about 250 grams right now...
Another quick update of my BION baby that I named Pearl. Pearl girl packed on another 50 grams the past couple months and is showing no signs of slowing down!
I'm with @Goose502 on this one. The sheer lack of green or teal pigment makes me think albinism is a possibility, though I'm not sure how prominent red irises would be in an albino chameleon.
If so, which products do you use? I arrived home from the vet yesterday with a clean bill of health for Boris, my male parsonii, but the vet mentioned something interesting to me. I told her I supplemented with Rep-Cal products/Vitamin B and gut loaded with a combination of Cricket Crack and a...
I know you said you bought some extra vines to put towards the top of the enclosure, but I would be sure to provide lots of horizontally placed branches up and down the cage. Utilize as much of that area as you can, it will definitely be to the benefit if your Cham!
Good grief, you being so defensive and deflecting your frustrations onto those attempting to help you is accomplishing absolutely nothing. I know it's super stressful when something goes wrong with the animals we care about, but asking calmly and providing plenty of details is the best and...
@leedragon I would have to agree with @jamest0o0, you can see for yourself on the forum marketplace. A vendor was just recently selling CB unsexed parsonii for $399 each. I'd say that's right up there with a Kammerflage Kreations panther!
@Brodybreaux25 I'm livid from reading your post, and I'm so, so sorry that happened to you. That's so terrible you had to find him like that, too. Were they just keeping him in the birdcage until they tired of him? Unreal. I read another post where some punk kids stole a bunch of panthers out of...
@Carlton that was actually one of my first considerations! We live in a quiet suburb with an open yard facing the street. The yard extends a ways back from the road. Although the crime rate is incredibly low here, anyone driving by could get the idea to snatch 'em, which I've been trying to...
Hooray! Yeah @Beman, I was thinking some hibiscus trees as well in addition to ann extra large schefflerall! I'll definitely post pics when I've got 'em up and running... in like 4 months from now, haha.
In preparation for spring (even though it's still the dead of winter here in MI...) I was weighing all my possible outdoor enclosure options for my two OE parsonii. I'm not particularly handy, nor do I have a ton of time to construct two elaborate or well-structured enclosures, so I was...
Beautiful! I wish I could even get a plant to stinkin’ survive long term let alone thrive, haha. Your boy’s looking great! Did you ever pick out a name for him? Also, do you know how old he is and his weight?
Ah, yes, I remember you posting last year about how you thought your chameleon's colors were lame. Maybe the issue is not that your chameleon is "lazy" or "dumb", but as @Matt Vanilla Gorilla and @JacksJill pointed out, there may be husbandry issues on your end resulting in hypovitaminosis, or...
